When Meng Jinta was a child, pwer utages in his rural hmetwn sparked his curisity: Why can’t we stre electricity during regular times and use it when the pwer ges ut?

A team f scientists has wrked ut that they might speed thrugh ur neck f the wds as ften as nce a decade, based n the estimated distributin f dark matter acrss a given regin f space. They fund that a PBH, packing the mass f a small planet int a space the size f a single atm (原子), shuld stream thrugh the inner Slar System abut nce every 10 years r s. Althugh we wuldn’t be able t directly see it, such a visitr wuld still make its existence knwn. If a PBH came within abut 280 millin miles f Mars, it wuld result in a detectable wbble (摇晃) in the red planet’s curse. The shift wuld nly be abut 1 meter ver 10 years, but that’s enugh fr us t pick up, since we can measure the distance f Mars frm Earth t within abut 10 centimeters.
The study started with a fun questin: what wuld happen if a PBH passed a persn? Lead authr, scientist Tung Tran frm MIT, rughly calculated that if ne came within a meter f yu, yu’d be thrwn abut 6 meters away in 1 secnd.
While that is rather unlikely, it gt the team wndering hw a PBH flying thrugh the slar system wuld affect planets and mns. “The numbers we gt were nt very clear.
