Ask Ss t read Maria’s mistakes in 2a. Let them guess the mistakes Maria might make.

Get Ss t rle-play the cnversatin using the infrmatin in their listening practice. Then get each pair f Ss t switch partners with anther pair and rle-play the cnversatin again. Next get them t g back t their riginal partners and share hw different the cnversatins were, if at all.
Shw Ss the chart n PPT P14, ask them t cmpare the custms abut time, greetings and dressing between Maria’s cuntry and America.

Get Ss t pair up, give them several minutes f thinking time and ask them t think abut the questins: What did yu learn frm the cnversatin? What ther culture differences did yu knw between China and ther cuntries? Then, let Ss t share their answers with their partners.

mistake n. 错误 / v. 误解; 误会, 其过去式为mistk,过去分词为mistaken。其常用短语有:

as sn as的意思是“一就”,常用来引导时间状语从句, 强调两个动作几乎同时发生。需要注意的是当as sn as引导时间状语从句时,若主句用一般将来时,从句则用一般现在时。若主句为祈使句或含有情态词,从句也要用一般现在时。
find ut的意思是“查明, 弄清(情况)”,find ut后可接由that, what, when或hw等引导的宾语从句, 也可接名词。
find ut与lk fr和find的区别是:
find ut意为“弄清; 查明”, 指通过观察、探索或调查而得。
lk fr意为“寻找”, 强调找的动作和过程。
find意为“找到;发现”, 强调找的结果。
