Peple wh have truble walking ften have a hard time enjying the beach. But hundreds f beaches in Greece nw ffer a new way fr peple in wheelchairs t get int the water by themselves. It’s called Seatrac.
Seatrac is basically a chair n a mving ramp (轻便梯) that can smthly carry a disabled persn int the sea. Once in the sea, the persn can either remain in the chair, enjying the water r g fr a swim. The Seatrac system can als help anyne else wh has a hard time walking, including lder peple and pregnant wmen.
Seatrac was invented and develped in Greece. The idea fr it came when ne f the inventrs, Ignatis Ftiu, was talking with a friend wh used a wheelchair. The friend said he enjyed the sea, but didn’t like having t be carried int the cean as if he were a sack (袋) f ptates.
Mr. Ftiu realized that there must be a way t make it easier fr wheelchair users t get int the water. Mr. Ftiu wrked with his partner and a prfessr at a Greek university t design the system. In time, they frmed a cmpany called TOBEA t build and sell it.
The cmpany wrked hard t make the system simple t put in place and easy t run. A wden walkway allws wheelchair users t reach the Seatrac. The system is slar-pwered. It desn’t require utside pwer and can cntinue t run even if the electricity ges ut. The Seatrac system can easily be packed up and stred when the swimming seasn ends.
This summer, the Seatrac system is being used at ver 220 beaches in Greece, Cyprus, Italy and Latvia. TOBEA hpes t ffer Seatrac in ther cuntries sn.
The Seatrac service in Greece is being ffered fr free. The Greek gvernment has helped pay fr it, with lcal cities buying and managing the equipment. Greece’s gvernment hpes that Seatrac will help attract mre turists t the cuntry.

Unlike nrmal chicken meat, lab-grwn meat isn’t created by raising and killing chickens. Instead, it’s a meat prduct develped frm animal cells that are grwn in a lab. S it is als called “cell-based” r “cultured” meat.
The prcess f creating lab-grwn meat is cmpletely different frm the nrmal meat-raising prcess. The first cells cme frm live animals. The cells are grwn inside large steel tanks, where they’re fed with everything they need t grw. In a few weeks, the cells grw t lk like nrmal meat. The cmpanies then frm this meat int mre familiar shapes.
The cmpanies say that their meat is better fr the envirnment than meat frm animals.
Raising animals fr fd uses huge amunts f land and water. It als creates a lt f pllutin. Raising animals fr fd creates abut 15% f the wrld’s greenhuse gases. That’s why cutting back n eating meat is ne f the easiest ways t fight climate change. Lab-grwn meat can als help ut in ther ways. Raising animals fr fd is extremely hard n animals. They are ften kept in small spaces and are treated badly.
