There is n sick pay when yu are self-emplyed. Yu can't d a bad day's wrk and blame it n yur bss. Yu are the backbne f yur business and yu need t priritize yur health and well-being. Nw a sn-t-be furth grader, she says that she dislikes schl because “it's nt fun t learn.” I am shcked. As a scientist and parent, I have dne everything I can t prmte a lve f learning in my children. Where did I g wrng?
My child's experience is nt unique. Develpmental psychlgist Susan Engel ntes that curisity defined as “spntaneus (自发的) ” investigatin and eagerness fr new infrmatin drps dramatically in children by the furth grade.
In Wnder: Childhd and the Lifelng Lve f Science, Yale psychlgist Frank C. Keil details the develpment f wnder— a spntaneus passin t explre, discver, and understand. He takes us n a jurney frm its early develpment, when wnder drives cmmn sense and scientific reasning, thrugh the drp-ff in wnder that ften ccurs, t the trap f life in a sciety that devalues wnder.
As Keil ntes, children are particularly rich in wnder while they are rapidly develping causal mechanisms (因果机制) in the preschl and early elementary schl years. They are sensitive t the thers' knwledge and gals, and they expertly use their desire fr questining Children's questins, particularly thse abut “why” and “hw” supprt the develpment f causal mechanisms which can be used t help their day-t-day reasning.
Unfrtunately, as Keil ntes, “adults greatly underestimate yung children's causal mechanisms.” In the bk, Wnder, Keil shws that we can supprt children's nging wnder by playing games with them as partners, encuraging questin-asking, and fcusing n their abilities t reasn and cnclude.
A decline in wnder is nt unavidable. Keil reminds us that we can accept wnder as a desirable psitive quality that exists in everyne. I value wnder deeply, and Wnder has given me hpe by prpsing a future fr my children that will remain wnder-full.

    C. They hardly supprt children's reasning. D. They develp thrugh children's questining
    30. Hw can parents supprt children's nging wnder accrding t Keil?
    A. By mnitring their games. B. By welcming inquiring minds.
    C. By estimating their abilities. D. By prviding reasnable cnclusins.
    31. What is the text?
    A. A bk review. B. A news reprt. C. A research paper. D. A children's stry.

Uninvited pinins abut smene's marriage, their cnstant failures r whatever just happened in the bathrm are all clues yu've gt an Oversharer n yur hands. Whether they're telling t much r asking fr details yu're nt cmfrtable sharing, this all-t cmmn persna has n bundaries.
“The discmfrt yu feel cmes frm a difference f standards abut what tpics f cnversatin are OK,” says Wisner. “What they cnsider t be acceptable, need-t-knw infrmatin is different frm what it is fr yu.”
At the same awkward time, the Oversharer is nly trying t get clser t yu by revealing mre abut themselves—and hping yu'll d the same. “We tend t label these peple as verly-curius, invasive (侵入的) r rude,” ntes Gerber, “but they really just want t be liked and accepted.”
T satisfy the Oversharer, and meanwhile reject endless TMI (t-much-infrmatin) , cnsider sharing smething else—still persnal but less invasive—that satisfies their urge t cnnect. When they really crss the line, dn't be shy. Say smething that indicates yur bundary is being crssed. But yu dn't have t declare them t be rude r insist them change their ways immediately. “OMG, that's private!” says everything, and yu'll never have t bring it up again.
A cmpliment (称赞) als wrks wnders with an Oversharer, adds Gerber, because it refcuses the cnversatin in their directin while subtly resetting yur bundary.
T my nsy friend wh asks me when I plan t have a baby, fr example, I will give this wise respnse next time: “Yu made having kids lk s easy! Hw'd yu d it?” Then nd and smile, nd and smile. Maybe I wn't have anther baby in this life, but at least I'll be ready t face an Oversharer—r any f the challenging peple it takes t make a wrld.
    32. What is the functin f the first paragraph?
    A. Shaping the image f an Oversharer. B. Stressing the imprtance f bundaries.
    C. Identifying the clues f an unpleasant talk. D. Presenting different pinins abut sharing.
    33. Why are Oversharers s interested in talking abut private issues?
    A. They want sympathy frm thers. B. They see it as a way t break the ice.
    C. They are curius abut thers' sufferings. D. They lng fr clser cnnectins with thers.
    34. What is suggested if Oversharers crss yur line?
    A. Ignre their cmments. B. Demanding an aplgy.
    C. Declaring yur bundaries. D. Criticizing their rudeness.
    35. What is the purpse f the authr's respnse in the last paragraph?
    A. T check her friend's bundary. B. T shw admiratin fr her friend.
    C. T learn frm her friend's experience. D. T shift the tpic t her friend's directin.
