关于中秋节的来历，有很多古老的传说，其中“嫦娥奔月”流传最广。传说，嫦娥的丈夫后羿是一位为民除害的英雄，两人希望能够长生不老，永远恩爱。于是后羿历经千辛万苦，向天后求得长生不老的仙药。后羿的徒弟知道后，在八月十五这一天，乘后羿不在家的时候，要挟嫦娥交出仙药。嫦娥被逼无奈，将仙药一口吞下，结果立刻身轻如烟，飞上了天，从此成了长住月宫的仙女，与后羿天各一方。后羿回家知道了此事，他万分悲痛，便在院中供上瓜果食品，寄托对嫦娥的思念。乡亲们敬重后羿与嫦娥的感情，也纷纷效仿拜月。
中文有藏头诗，即每句诗的头一个字连起来，暗藏着意思。英文也有藏头诗，只不过中文藏的是字，英文藏的是字母，即每行诗的头一个字母。
