Accrding t data frm the Unicde Cnsrtium (统一码联盟), nine f the 10 mst-used emjis frm 2019 als ranked amng the tp 10 this year. The tears f jy emji ranked N.1, despite members f Gen Z deeming it uncl.
“It speaks t hw many peple use emjis. If emjis were a purely Gen Z thing, then yu wuldn’t see it s highly ranked,” said Alexander Rbertsn, an emji researcher at Ggle. “Because f the large number f peple using emjis, even if ne grup thinks smething is lame, they have t be a really big grup t affect these statistics.”
And it makes sense that Gen Z wuld think that certain emjis aren’t fashinable. It’s part f the “teenager experience f creating a sense f subculture where there’s a right way and a wrng way f behaving.” Plus, there is a range f laughter that can be expressed: There’s light chuckling. There’s acknwledgement laughter, which is just a marker f empathy. Using emjis, such as the skull face (“I’m dead”) r crying face ( uncntrllable tears f laughter), can help t illustrate that range.
“It basically indicates that we have what we need t cmmunicate a brad range f expressin, r even very specific cncepts,” Mr Rbertsn said. “Yu dn’t necessarily need a Cvid emji.”
“We did see a rise in the use f the virus emji. But it wasn’t made remtely int the mst-cmmnly used nes because we still had plenty t laugh abut and plenty t cry abut, whether it was because f the pandemic r nt,” said Lauren Gawne, a senir lecturer in linguistic at La Trbe University in Melburne, Australia.

This questin has fascinated behaviural scientists fr decades: why d we give mney t charity?
The explanatins fr charitable giving fall int three brad categries, frm the purely altruisic (利他的)— I dnate because I value the scial gd dne by the charity. The “impurely” altruistic— I dnate because I extract value frm knwing I cntribute t the scial gd fr the charity. And the nt-at-all altruistic— I dnate because I want t shw ff t ptential mates hw rich I am.
But are these mtives strng enugh t enable peple t dnate as much as they wuld want t? Mst peple supprt charities in ne way r anther, but ften we struggle t make dnatins as ften as we think we shuld. Althugh many peple wuld like t leave a gift t charity in their will, they frget abut it when the time cmes.
Many peple are als aware that they shuld dnate t the causes that have the highest impact, but facts and figures are less attractive than narratives. In a series f experiments, it was fund that peple are much mre respnsive t charitable pleas that feature a single, identifiable beneficiary(受益者), than they are t statistical infrmatin abut the scale f the prblem being faced. When it cmes t charitable giving, we are ften ruled by ur hearts and nt ur heads.
The gd news is that charitable giving is cntagius—seeing thers give makes an individual mre likely t give and gentle encuragement frm an imprtant persn in yur life can als make a big difference t yur dnatin decisins— mre than quadrupling them in ur recent study. Habit als plays a part— in three recent experiments thse wh vlunteered befre were mre likely t d dnate their time than thse wh had nt vlunteered befre.
In summary, behaviural science identifies a range f factrs that influence ur dnatins, and can help us t keep giving in the lnger term. This is great news nt just fr charities, but als fr dnrs.
32. What can we learn abut peple wh d charitable giving?
A. Mst peple supprt charity as ften as they think they shuld.
B. Sme peple dn’t want t leave a gift t charity until the time cmes.
C. Thse wh dnate because they can gain an advantage are purely altruistic.
D. Sme peple send mney t charity simply t tell thers they are wealthy.
33. In which way will peple dnate mre willingly?
A. Nt revealing the names f the dnrs.
B. Shwing figures abut the seriusness f the prblem.
C. Telling stries that feature a single, recgnizable beneficiary.
D. Reminding peple t write dwn what t dnate in the will in advance.
34. What des the underlined sentence in paragraph 5 mean?
A. Peple will learn frm thers and fllw the suit.
B. Many peple are familiar with charitable giving.
C. Charitable giving helps the beneficiary in all aspects.
D. Charitable giving can bring a lt f benefits t dnrs.
35. What is the writing purpse f the passage?
A. T persuade mre peple t dnate.
B. T explain the science behind why peple dnate.
C. T criticize sme false charitable giving behaviurs.
D. T explre appraches t making peple dnate mre.

Armed with tw ver-packed suitcases,we arrived at the airprt just in time fr my flight. “Well, here we are, the airprt,” my sister said with a sigh. One last hug and a final gd-bye and I wuld be n my way t a new life abrad, leaving my belved sister behind.
All my life I had lved airprts. T me they were sme kind f magic gateway t the wrld,a place frm which t start great hlidays and adventures. But tday it seemed like a cld and heartless place. I lked at my sister and even thugh her eyes were filled with tears, she was trying t keep a brave face. “Yu’d better g r yu’ll miss yur flight,” she said.
