I thught I knew a lt abut Hamlet. As a high schl student with English literature as ne f my main subjects, I have t! Shakespeare’s Hamlet is prbably the mst imprtant play by the mst imprtant writer in English. Almst everybdy knws “T be, r nt t be”, right? Having seen quite a few prductins f Hamlet and read the play many times, I was full f cnfidence-until the Peking Opera will came t twn!
Dating back t the 18th century, Peking Opera has a ver tw hundred years f histry. Des this mean it’s easier than a Shakespeare play t understand? T find ut the answer, I just had t g and see The Revenge f Prince Zidan - the Peking Opera versin f Hamlet.
cstumes and masks were amazing. The perfrmers f curse sang in Chinese, but the music, exaggerated mvements and mime helped get the meaning acrss t the audience. The vice themselves sunded really unique-sme f the female vices were s high that I was sure they culd break glass! And the stage was really simple: a decrated whip represented a hrse, and a screen with Chinese characters, a study. Using such techniques, the pera had transfrmed a small stage int the whle universe. Easily my favurite part f the shw was hw the characters mved n stage. I had never seen Prince Hamlet d a backflip befre! That was simply incredible. It was s dazzling and energetic that I wasn't sure if the characters were perfrmers r athletes!
Befre experiencing The Revenge f Prince Zidan, I wasn’t sure if I wuld enjy it. But, in fact, I was n the edge f my seat! Feeling the strng emtins f lve, anger, fear and grief in the perfrmance, I culd easily recgnize the me f Hamiet. S, if yu want t see a shw that cmbines music, singing, drama, petry and cstume design with explsive effect, The Revenge f Prince Zidan ticks all the right bxes.

A.With the help f ther audience.B.Thrugh the music, mvements and mime.
C.Thrugh the perfrmers’ cstumes and masks.D.By bserving the audience’s reactins.
27.What’s the similarity between Shakespeare’s Hamlet and the Peking Opera versin?

“Our temperature’s nt what peple think it is,” said Julie Parsnnet, MD, prfessr f medicine and f health research and plicy in Stanfrd. “r ur cmmn sense that ur nrmal temperature is 37℃ r 98.6F, is wrng.”
That standard f 37℃ was made famus by German dctr Carl Reinhld August Wunderlich in a bk in 1868. Mdern studies, hwever, have called that number int questin, suggesting that it’s t high.
In a latest study published ineLife, Parsnnet and her clleagues explre bdy temperature trends and cnclude that temperature changes since the time f Wunderlich reflect a true histrical pattern , rather than measurement errrs r biases (偏见). The researchers prpse that the decrease in bdy temperature is the result f changes in ur envirnment ver the past 200 years, which have in turn driven physilgical changes.
The researchers analyzed temperatures frm three fficially-recrded datasets cvering different histrical perids, using the 677,423 temperature measurements frm these datasets t develp a linear mdel (线性模型) cntaining the temperatures ver time. They determined that the bdy temperature f men brn in the early t mid-1990s is n average 1.06 F lwer than that f men brn in the early 1800s. Similarly, they determined that the bdy temperature f wmen brn in the early t mid-1990s is n average 0.58 F lwer than that f wmen brn in the 1890s. These calculatins match a decrease in bdy temperature f 0.05 F every 10 years.
The decrease in average bdy temperature in the US culd be explained by a reductin in the amunt f energy being used. The authrs believe this trend may be due t a ppulatin-wide decrease in inflammatin (炎症): “Inflammatin prduces all srts f prteins and cytkines that speed up yur metablism (新陈代谢) and raise yur temperature,” Parsnnet said. Pabtic health has imprved sharply in the past 200 years due t advances in medical treatments, mre cnvenient envirnment, greater availability f fd and imprved living standards. The authrs als argue that cmfrtable lives at cnstant surrunding temperature cntribute t a lwer metablic rate. Hmes in the 19th century had irregular heating and n cling; tday, central heating and air cnditining are cmmnplace. A mre cnstant envirnment remves a need t expend energy t keep a cnstant bdy temperature.

Tw thirds f the ice in the glaciers (冰川) f the Alps is dmed! These glaciers will melt by the end f the century as glbal temperatures rise, accrding t a recent study.
Scientists claim that half the ice held in sme 4,000 Alpine glaciers will disappear by 2050 due t glbal warming thrugh the effect f past emissins. After that, even if carbn emissins drp t zer, tw-thirds f the ice will still have melted by 2100. If emissins cntinue t rise at the current rate, the ice tngues will have all but disappeared frm Alpine valleys by the end f the century. The mst pessimistic predictin tells us that the Alps will be mstly ice-free by 2100. Only islated ice patches wuld remain at high altitudes, representing five per cent, at mst, f the ice vlume seen tday.
The researchers warn that the lss f these glaciers will mean much less water is available fr farming and hydrelectricity, especially during drughts. It wuld als affect nature and turism.
In February, a study fund that a third f the huge ice fields in Asia’s twering muntain chains were als under threat fr the same reasns. This will lead t serius cnsequences fr almst tw billin peple wh live dwnstream. Glaciers alng the Hindu Kush and Himalayan range are at higher, clder altitudes. If glbal carbn emissins are nt cut, hwever, tw-thirds f their ice culd be gne by 2100.
The latest research cmbined cmputer mdels with real-wrld data t frecast the fate f the glaciers. It used 2017 as its starting pint. Unlike previus wrk, these mdels included hw the glaciers mve dwn the muntains. Applying this apprach t ther glaciated muntain chains culd imprve ice lss frecasts there.
Cutting the emissins frm fssil-fuel burning, defrestatin and ther plluting activities is the biggest factr in minimizing the melting f the ice. The future f these glaciers is indeed at risk, but there is still a pssibility f limiting their disappearance.
32.What des the underlined wrd “dmed” mean in paragraph 1?
A.Abandned.B.Discvered.C.Plluted.D.Endangered.
33.What can we infer frm paragraph 2?
A.The Alps is expected t lse all its ice by 2100.B.Ice lss will be avided with emissins prevented.
C.Emissins have much t d with the ice melting.D.Large ice pieces will just exist at the muntain tp.
34.Why are the Asia's ice fields mentined in paragraph 4?
A.T explain hw glacier melting came abut.
B.T imply pllutin is a wrldwide prblem.
C.T shw what cnsequences ice melting will cause.
D.T indicate the Alps is nt alne t face ice melting.
35.What is the writer's attitude twards the future f glaciers?
A.Critical.B.Objective.C.Optimistic.D.Dubtful.
