Last Friday, a rbt called EveR6 led an rchestra (管弦乐队) in a perfrmance f Krean music at the Natinal Theater f Krea. EveR 6 is abut as tall as a persn, and has a human-like face that can shw emtins. Its jints (关节) allw it t mve its arms quickly and smthly in many different directins.
But EveR 6 desn’t think n its wn like sme advanced Artificial Intelligence prgrams. Instead, it has a limited grup f mvements that it has been trained t perfrm. T make these mvements as natural as pssible, EveR 6’s mvements are based n thse captured frm real human cnductrs.
In Friday’s perfrmance, the Natinal Orchestra f Krea presented a cncert titled “Absence”. The cncert included five different pieces f music. Tw were cnducted by EveR 6, and tw were cnducted by S-Yeul Chi, wh leads the Busan Philharmnic Orchestra. Bth cnductrs wrked tgether n the final piece.
Mr. Chi was impressed with the way EveR 6 mved. “The rbt was able t present such detailed mves much better than I had imagined,” he said.
But Mr. Chi added that the rbt’s biggest weakness is that it can’t hear. “Sme peple think that cnducting is just a cmbinatin f hand waving and keeping the beat,” said Mr. Chi. “But a gd cnductr needs t listen t the rchestra, s that he r she can crrect and encurage the rchestra as it plays.”
Mr. Chi and EveR 6 bth cnducted a piece f music called “Sense”. Instead f musical ntes, EveR 6 had instructins fr hw t play the piece. The cnductrs and musicians had t wrk tgether t create the music. Mr. Chi cmmunicated with the musicians while EveR 6 kept the beat. Mr. Chi said that nce EveR 6 started, the musicians had “n chice but t fllw its beats”.
Mr. Chi desn’t think rbts are likely t replace human cnductrs. But he believes rbts culd be helpful in situatins like practice sessins where the same thing needs t be repeated many times.

Indr fd grwing peratins are seeing bth successes and failures in the United States. Sme cmpanies in the fd industry are investing (投资) even as cmpetitrs fail.
Califrnia-based Plenty Unlimited this summer began wrking n $300 millin indr plants, while Krger annunced that it wuld be increasing its availability f vertically (垂直地) farmed prduce. Curt Cvingtn f AgAmerica Lending, a private investment cmpany centered n agriculture, is nt cnvinced that indr farming peratins can wrk—except in special cases. Given the high cst f indr peratins, Cvingtn said, “It’s just hard t be very prfitable.”
    32. What is Jacb Prtill’s attitude t the indr fd grwing industry?
    A. Psitive.B. Wrried.C. Unclear.D. Dubtful.
    33. What can we learn abut indr farming?
    A. It takes a lt f manpwer t take care f plants.
    B. It means grwing plants in water instead f sil.
    C. It prtects crps frm increasingly extreme weather.
    D. It is different frm cntrlled envirnment agriculture.
    34. Why did Curt Cvingtn questin indr farming peratins?
    A. They prduce little fd.B. They carry great cst.
    C. They need sunlight.D. They lack investrs.
    35. What is the best title fr the text?
    A. What Types f Fd Can Be Grwn Indrs?
    B. Hw Can Yu Grw Fd Indrs Withut Sil?
    C. Indr Farming Cmpanies Take Agriculture Indrs
    D. Indr Fd Grwing Operatins Face an Uncertain Future

My friend invited me t a trapeze (高空秋千) class. I was dubtful because f a lack f curage and a shrt f self-cnfidence, but her enthusiasm and assurances f strict safety rules wn me ver.
I had been fearful f heights since elementary schl and aviding my fear f heights became secnd nature. But here I was, at age twenty-six, facing my fear f heights in a rather extreme way. I had cme arund t the idea f trying trapeze. I figured it wasn’t much different frm swinging (舞动) n the mnkey bars as a kid. One difficulty I didn’t expect was the ladder (梯子). In rder t reach the trapeze, I had t climb up a twenty-tw-ft ladder.
I culd hear ne f my classmates expressing her impatience with my slw climb up the ladder. “If she’s afraid f heights, why did she sign up fr a trapeze class?” Hwever, my friend was at the tp f the ladder, trying t encurage me. Besides, his distractin techniques helped t take my mind ff my dangerus task. I fund a rhythm(节奏) and kept ging. With a slw and steady pace, I made it t the tp. The cheers frm my classmates rang ut belw.
An instructr tld me t step t the edge f the platfrm. He reminded me f the safety rules, including the net belw that wuld catch me at the bttm. He als asked me t listen t the directins while in the air, s I culd perfrm a trick.
As the instructr cunted dwn, I tk a deep breath and pushed ff the platfrm, swinging back and frth. At that mment, I lst awareness f time and space. Frtunately, the instructr’s vice came ver the ludspeaker, giving me step-by-step instructins fr perfrming a trick.
