Frm that pint frward, every presentatin included sme mentin f the failures that led t the results. It reminded us that behind every impressive result is a persn wh is just trying his best. Since the wrkshp, we have nticed a sustained change in ur classmates. There are dzens f papers shwing that,” University f Exeter Medical Schl researcher Mathew P.White said. “We get this idea—patients are cming t us and they are asking, ‘Dctr, hw lng shuld I spend?’And the dctr is saying, ‘I dn't really knw’.”
S White and his team decided t find ut by using data cllected frm nearly 20,000 peple in England thrugh the Mnitr f Engagement with the Natural Envirnment Survey. And their answer is tw hurs a week. Peple wh spent at least that much time in nature either all at nce r ttaled ver several shrter visits were mre likely t reprt gd health and psychlgical wellbeing than thse with n nature expsure.
Remarkably the twhur standard applied t men and wmen, t lder and yunger flks, t peple frm different ethnic backgrunds, ccupatinal grups, sciecnmic levels, and s n. Even peple with lngterm illnesses r disabilities benefited frm time spent in nature—as lng as it was at least 120 minutes per week.
While the findings are based n a vast number f peple, White cautins that it's really just a crrelatin. Nbdy knws why r hw nature has this benefit, r whether the findings will stand up t a mre strict investigatin.
“I want t be really clear abut this. This is in very early stages. We're nt saying everybdy has t spend 120 minutes. This is really t start the cnversatin, saying, what wuld a threshld lk like?
