    Step 1 Warming-up
    1. Review the stry Gulliver’s Travels
    T: What’s the stry abut?
    S: The stry is abut Gulliver’s trips in sme strange cuntries. A lt f amazing things happened. And he als had a lt f difficulties. It’s exciting and interesting.
    2. Lead in questin wrds + t-infinitives
    Gulliver’s feelings in Lilliput: Gulliver didn’t knw what t say.
    Gulliver didn’t knw hw t get away.
    【设计意图:本环节通过格列佛的故事来导入本课目标语法之一。这样做一方面学生有话可说;另一方面,导入自然。】
    Step 2 Learn t use questin wrds + t-infinitives
    1. Free talk
    T: Culd Gulliver run away at last? If Gulliver culd run away, hw did he d it? If Gulliver culdn’t run away, what difficulty did he have?
    2. Rewrite the sentences
    T: Gd jb. Gulliver met s many difficulties. Try t rewrite the sentences abut Gulliver’s difficulties with questin wrds + t-infinitives.
    (1) He didn’t knw where he culd find ther peple/where t find ther peple.
    (2) He didn’t knw hw he culd break the rpes/hw t break the rpes.
    (3) He wndered wh he culd ask fr help/wh t ask fr help.
    (4) He didn’t knw what he culd d with the tiny men/what t d with the tiny men.
    (5) He culdn’t decide when he shuld leave Lilliput/when t leave Lilliput.
    2. Translate the sentences
    T: Translate the fllwing six sentences, using questin wrds + t-infinitives.
    3. Wrk ut the rule
    T: We can use a questin wrd + t-infinitive after a verb. Can yu wrk ut any rules abut this structure?
    S: All questin wrds can be used in this way, except “why”.

    2. Cmplete the sentences
    T: Cmplete the sentences, using a verb and an bject befre questin wrds + t-infinitives.
    3. Wrk ut the rule
    (1) verbs used with questin wrds + t-infinitives
    (2) verbs used with bjects + questin wrds + t-infinitives
    Step 4 Learn t use verbs + questin wrds + nuns + t-infinitives
    Learn t use adjectives + questin wrds + t-infinitives
    1. Lead-in
    T: Gulliver wanted t leave Lilliput, but he shuld knw hw t talk t the tiny peple and learn what language t speak. If he had a map, it will tell him where t find the bat. It als shws him which way t g.
    2. Learn hw t use verbs + questin wrds + nuns + t-infinitives
    T: Try t translate the sentences.

    3. Learn hw t use adjectives + questin wrds + t-infinitives
    T: We can use an adjective like sure r clear befre a questin wrd. Try t translate the sentences.

    4. Cmplete the sentences
    T: Cmplete the sentences accrding t the pictures.
    5. Cmplete the cnversatin
    T: Amy and Daniel are talking abut their Reading Week. Cmplete their cnversatin. Use the crrect questin wrds and t-infinitives.

    Step 1 Presentatin
    1. Gulliver’s chice
    T: At last, Gulliver learned t talk t the tiny men, and he was taken t the king. Hwever, if he wanted t leave Lilliput, he must agree t 8 certain things.

    We use must when the speaker feels that smething is necessary.
    We use have t when the situatin makes smething necessary.

    T: Wrk in grups and talk abut what rules we shuld bey when we are in the library, using must, must nt, have t and dn’t have t.
    4. Cmplete the sentences
    T: Cmplete the library rules with must, must nt, have t r dn’t have t.

    T: Wrk in grups and discuss what we must/mustn’t/have t/dn’t have t d in a public place. In the classrm/In the cinema/In the park/In the hspital ...

    T: Rewrite the ending f Gulliver in Lilliput, using what we have learned tday (questin wrds + t-infinitives; must & have t).
