    Kyra Peralte thught keeping a diary during the pandemic (流行病) might help her srt ut her feelings.     T reach this cnclusin, the Australian scientist examined 56 birds frm 14 grups f wild magpies living in the suburbs f Western Australia’s capital city, Perth. The grups ranged between 3 and. 12 individuals. Each magpie-tested separately t avid the risk f it getting help frm its mates-was put thrugh fur tasks that tested its cgnitive(认知的)abilities. These included finding fd hidden in a transparent cntainer, finding fd hidden in differently clred cntainers, and a memry test invlving finding hidden fd. Adult and yung birds were tested repeatedly and the results were clear. The birds that lived in larger grups were quicker t master the tasks than thse that lived in smaller nes. The difference between intelligent big grup members and less intelligent little grup members appeared very early in the birds’ lives.
