Envirnmental stressrs that push hneybees t begin searching fd earlier in life can cause a dmin effect n hives(蜂巢), quickening their sudden cllapse, a new study suggests.
The study shwed that t many yung bees leaving the hive can cause a tipping pint in the tight sciety f a hive, leading t clny(群体) cllapse within weeks.

S researchers set up experimental hives that wuld in effect frce bees t begin fraging earlier. They als tracked bees in a nrmal hive, where scial rles are regulated, keeping age grups in balance.
Clnies regularly prtect against unexpected high lss f fragers by sending bees ut earlier, but they rapidly return t stability. But if death rate rughly dubled, the mdel shwed, the clny wuld be lcked in a negative feedback circle f mre yung bees fraging at yunger ages, leading t less stred fd and fewer baby bees.

I didn’t shw an inclinatin t watch his Bradway musicals, when Stephen Sndheim died n Nv. 26, 2021, at age 91. Smething in me instead wanted t see Al Hirschfeld’s drawings f Sndheim’s shws and characters ver the decades.
