My favourite lessons are Chinese and English. I spend about two hours a day doing my homework. I also like playing volleyball.

    Step 1 Warm up and revision

    Ask and answer the next questions

    6What time do you have lessons in the morning / afternoon?

    7What time do you do after-school activities?

    8What time do you do homework?

    9What time do you watch TV?

    10What time do you go to bed?

    Then do Part B.

    Step 2 Welcome to the Reading

    From Millie’s diary, we know something about her daily life .Do you want to know more about her school life .Please scan her e-mail to her new friend Tommy as quickly as you can. Try to find whether the following statements are true or false. Do not stop when you meet any new words.

    1(    ) There are 1,800 teachers at Millie’s school.

    2(    ) Millie doesn’t like her classroom because she cannot see the playground.

    3(    ) Millie is Amy’s best friend.

    4(    ) Mrs. Tang is Millie Maths teacher.

    5(    ).Millies favourite lessons are Maths and Chinese

    6(    ) Millie goes to the Reading Club every Friday morning.

    7(    ) There are many things to do at Millie’s school.

    8(    ).Millie doesn’t want Tommy to send her an e-mail.

    Step 3 Listening

    Listen to the tape and try to tell whether the following statements are true or false with the books closed.

    1Millie likes her school very much.

    2Millie sometimes plays games at lunchtime.

    3The Principal’s name is Mr. Tang.

    4Millie spends three hours a day doing her homework.

    5Millie goes to the Reading Club twice a week.

    Step 4 Listen and read

    Listen to the tape and read the e-mail sentence by sentence .Answer the following questions.

    5Does Mrs. Tang talk to the whole school every day?

    6Does Millie like playing volleyball?

    Step 5 Practice speaking English

    Ask and answer the questions above in pairs.

    Step 6 Writing

    Read the text again, guess the meanings of the new words and finish the following exercises.

    Step 7 Speaking Talk to the partner about the following questions

    2) How many students are there in the school?

    3) Why does she like her classroom?

    2Say something about her friends

    1) Who is her best friend?

    4Say something about her after-school activities

    1) When does she go to the Reading Club?

    2) How often do they practice playing volleyball?

    3) Who is a member of the Swimming Club?

    BAsk the Ss to compare Millie’s school life with their own school life

    If you have a new e-friend called Lucy, send an e-mail to tell her your school life 

    Step 9 Homework

    1Say something about your school life.

    2Send an e-mail to wish your teacher a happy New Year.

     

    Ss ask and answer the teacher’s questions according to their life.
