Look and say

Show the pictures for “Listen and enjoy”. and have the students say the rhyme together. Then ask them to answer some questions to review the words and patterns that they have learnt previously.

Display the pictures of an egg, a caterpillar, a cocoon and a butterfly on the blackboard in a random order. Ask the students to put them in the right order according to the life stages of a butterfly. Then invite several students to describe the life stages.

学生根据儿歌相互提问交流，活跃课堂气氛，激发学生学习的兴趣，为后面的学习做铺垫。

While-task procedure

Look and read

1.    Draw two white eggs on the blackboard, and then two green caterpillars. Have the students describe them with the patterns They were… and Now they are…after me.
2.    Have the students look at the pictures in “Look and read” on P.10and listen to the recording. Then ask questions about each picture.
3.    Have the students read the diary in “Look and read”. Ask them some questions to check their understanding. After that, play the recording for “Look and read” again and have the students repeat after the recording.
4.    Have the students complete the chart about the life cycle of silkworms. Then ask them to fill in the blanks to complete the descriptions of each stage.

Exercises

Write the key words and patterns such as silkworm eggs, white silkworms, leaves, cocoons, brown moths, wings, lay eggs, They were… and They are… on the blackboard．Have the students work in groups of four to discuss the life cycle of silkworms. Then invite several groups to give a report in front the class.

Do Part F “Read, choose and complete” of the Workbook. Then check the answers with them.
