Going against the tide of flocking(蜂拥)to well-known yet generally jam-packed tourist destinations on vacation, a growing number of holidaymakers in China tend to spend their leisure time at lesser-known resorts to seek unique, relaxed holiday experiences. Reverse Tourism has emerged as a new trend among young holidaymakers in China.

Besides crowds, some vacationers chose less-traveled places to save on the cost of trips to popular destinations, which often require pricey tickets, meals and hotel stays. "Tourism used to be about sightseeing. Now it is about experiences," said Dai , president of the China Tourism Academy. He said popular tourist spots are always packed and often raise their prices during holidays. As people become more mature travelers, they are increasingly unwilling to follow the herd. Some of them are simply looking to take a rest somewhere quiet for a couple of days, which is a good way to vacation.

In addition, lesser-known attractions are not as “commercial" and “standardized" as developed ones and are able to offer more genuine experiences and natural encounters, according to social media posts. And unlike popular destinations, some under-explored places with little online exposure can offer more surprises. COVID-19 is another key factor fueling Reverse Tourism. As precautionary measures continue, traveling has an unpredictable quality. "The rise of Reverse Tourism is not a bad thing, ," said an opinion piece in Zhengzhou Daily. Food deserts are generally classified as geographic regions where people have few or limited options to purchase nutritious and affordable foods like vegetables and fruits. Food deserts affect low-income areas far from supermarkets. Over 23 million Americans live in low-income areas located more than one mile from a food store. Over 11 million people living in these regions are themselves low-income. While people in food deserts may have easier access to convenience stores and fast food, they experience more challenges in shopping at large grocery stores that offer a more comprehensive(全面的)selection of healthy foods at lower prices.

This inequality in food access means that families, children, and communities living in food deserts may be at increased risk of obesity and other diet-related health issues, including diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

For people living in the countryside, they must travel many miles to the nearest store; a lack of access to a vehicle and limited or nonexistent public transportation contribute to food accessibility challenges.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools have become extremely powerful, surprising even their creators. Most people have probably read a book or seen a movie about an Al or robot that has become so smart that it can take over the world. The Al in stories like these is known as AGI or Artificial General Intelligence. True AGI would be intelligent in many different areas and would be able to learn on its own. Currently, there is no real AGI. Most experts believe it will be many years before an AGI could possibly be created.

Scientists have been working to improve AI models, mainly by training the models on larger and larger collections of information. Those efforts are paying off.

The AI tool that has gotten the most attention recently is ChatGPT, created by the company Open AI. ChatGPT appears to be extremely intelligent, which answers quickly in perfect sentences, makes up stories and games, writes essays and much more. Another powerful model called GPT-4 is also developed by the same company. GPT-4 can create and explain jokes, and pass tests.

The rapid progress of recent AI models worries some people. Last week, many computer experts released a letter calling for a six-month pause in any work on AI tools stronger than GPT-4.

The letter claimed AI companies were in a race to create "powerful digital minds" that no one could "understand, predictor control". The group behind the letter wants governments to develop laws to make sure AI tools are safe. Not all AI experts agree with the letter. Some say the letter makes today's AI tools sound more intelligent than they really are. Others say it's more important to worry about real problems in current AI tools rather than imaginary ones in the future.
