People like to spend their spare time doing their hobbies. Almost everything can be a hobby. People who have hobbies build model ships, weave baskets, watch birds, look after pets, climb mountains, grow flowers, fish, ski, skate, and swim. They also paint pictures, go to concerts, and play musical instruments. They collect everything from books to leaves and from shells to stamps.
People take up hobbies because these activities offer enjoyment, friendship, knowledge and relaxation. Sometimes they even get money from their hobbies. Hobbies help people relax after hard work, and give them a balance(平衡)between work and play. Anyone, rich or poor, old or young, sick or well, can follow a satisfying hobby, no matter how old he or she is, or how much money he or she has got.

More people are retiring(退休)than ever before, and at an earlier age. If a person has his own hobby, he will never need to worry about his life after he retires.

The combination(结合)of using time and money on someone else is the magic formula(公式)for happiness. If you are preparing 60 birthday gift for your friend, stop thinking about buying a bracelet(手镯). Instead, go and buy the beads(珠子)and make the bracelet 61 (you). After all, a gift made by hand not only shows your thoughtful mind, but also even 62 (good)expresses how much you care about your friend.
Even with these tips, however, Dunn and Norton said that you shouldn't "bet on"(孤注一掷)money buying happiness. Happiness can't 63 (search)for, but it comes to you 64 (slow)—it's the result of having something 65 (mean)to do, something to hope for and someone to love.
