As an advertising worker by day and a talk show host by night, 28-year-old An Di has many ways to break out of her workday routine(常规)and make life outside the office more wonderful.
After graduating in 2017, An Di came to Beijing with dreams of becoming a professiona1 in the field. “At that time, I was new to the city and a green hand at work. I have always found living in Beijing to be stressful, especially during my first two years in the city. I spent quite along time getting used to the pace of life and work.” An said.
Like many people of her generation, she believed that finding a hobby was like discovering another identity(身份)that could help her reduce everyday stress and offer her a chance to explore more possibilities in life. “I began to learn dance and painting,” she said.
When talk show programs started becoming popular in China in 2017, An Di quickly took notice. She said she had followed almost all the online talk show programs and attended many events offline.
In early 2022, when one of her friends invited her to take part in a talk show competition, she immediately said yes. “It is one of the coolest things I’ve ever done,” she said. Although she practiced a lot after work for about two weeks, she was still nervous when the big day finally arrive. She said, “I think my performance was OK. And taking part in the competition was really a great experience.”
An is also developing other hobbies, such as learning a musical instrument. “I love to have a full schedule(日程安排), and good time management helps balance my work and my hobbies, “she said.” ▲ The more I learned in different fields, the more creative ideas I will have at work. Life is a journey, and hobbies can make life more interesting and colorful.”
39.What does the underlined phrase “a green hand” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A.Someone whose hand is painted green.
B.Someone whose hand is often wounded.

①There are many arguments(争论) for and against children owning pets. Pets help to keep children company, help to keep children fit, and they also help children to learn new responsibilities. However, pets can be dangerous. They require a lot of care, and they cost a lot of money to be taken care of properly.
②The first argument that supports pet ownership by children is that they are good company. When children come home from school, pets are always there to greet them. They love children and are always willing to play. As a result, children will be less likely to experience loneliness. They will also help to keep children active as they will need to be walked and played with every day.
③Secondly, owning a pet encourages children to learn new responsibilities. Pets need to be looked after and be taken care of every day. Children will learn different skills that they can use later in life. For example, washing and feeding pets are important skills to learn. Learning these responsibilities will ensure that children will be able to look after themselves, and possibly their children one day.
④________ Some dogs, for example, may bite others, and children may become afraid of animals as a result of this happening to them. Cats also look very soft, but they do have very sharp claws(爪子). If they are treated in the wrong way, cats can use their claws to scratch. In addition, pets require a great deal of care. Many pets need to be regularly groomed, exercised and bathed. As a result of this, children may neglect their studies because they are too busy worrying about their pet and its well-being.
⑤A further argument against pet ownership is that pets are costly; buying food and maintaining their care is expensive. Finally, the cost of owning one falls on parents, and as a result, children don’t fully understand the responsibility of having one.
⑥In short, there are many arguments for and against pet ownership. Pets help to keep children company, fit, and they also help them to learn new responsibilities. However, pets can be dangerous, they require a lot of care, and they cost a lot of money to be taken care of properly.
43.Which of the following sentences can be put into ________ in Paragraph 4?
A.On the other hand, some pets can be dangerous.
B.As a result, some animals are very cute for children.
C.So their children can look after more people at school.
D.All in all, having a pet has a good influence on children.
44.The underlined word “neglect” in Paragraph 4 means ________.
A.put an effort in B.pay little attention to
C.have no influence on D.show great interest in
45.Which of the following shows the structure of the passage?
A. B. C. D.
46.What’s the best title of the passage?
A.New Things from Owning Pets
B.Arguments about Owning Pets
C.Allowing Children to Own Pets
D.Looking After Pets in a Right Way

If you could have one type of magical power, what would you wish for? In the book Savvy, the Beaumont family all get supernatural powers—their savvy—when they turn 13. When I finished reading it, my heart was warmed by this coming-of-age story.
Mibs Beaumont is the main character of the book. Her grandpa can move mountains, one of her brothers can cause hurricanes(飓风), and another brother creates electricity. She can’t wait to turn 13 because she wants to see what power she’ll get.
But just before her big birthday, her father gets hurt in a terrible accident and cannot wake up. Suddenly, Mibs’dream of having X-ray vision is gone. All she wants now is a savvy that will save her dad.
With her brothers and some friends, she decides to see her father. They secretly get on a bus to the hospital. Along the way, they make some friends. More importantly, the Beaumonts learn to control their savvy and use it to help others.
As Mibs’mom says, everyone has a savvy, not just the Beaumonts. Some people can run really fast. Some are good at persuading(劝说) people. But when your savvy works, it’s up to you to decide how to use it.
