    Unit 2 Travelling AroundPeriod 2 Reading and Thinking 教学设计                                       教材分析该板块的活动主题是探索秘鲁Explore Peru)。学生通过观看视频、阅读有关南美洲国家——秘鲁的介绍和旅游宣传册,了解秘鲁的旅游资源,同时了解这个国家的地理、历史、文化及景观等内容,最后完成根据游客的兴趣爱好推荐合适的旅行路线的任务。该板块的活动模拟现实生活中人们通过阅读旅游宣传册或其他如百科全书式的介绍性文本来了解旅行目的地的过程,让学生学会从不同渠道搜寻信息,为制定旅行计划做好准备。选择具有南美风情和特色的国家——秘鲁作为目的地,增加了学生了解非英语国家的机会,使其拥有更广阔的国际视野。该部分除了文字以外,还提供了图片、地图、视频等多模态语篇,培养学生看的能力。该板块文本包括两部分。第一部分是介绍性文本,介绍了秘鲁的地理位置、地貌特征及历史文化。该文本常见于百科全书,以条目释文为主,或配以插图;内容简要并具有权威性;语言平实、简洁、严谨,客观陈述事实,不带有感情色彩。第二部分是旅游宣传册,介绍了秘鲁四条不同特色的旅行路线。该文本结构清晰,主干部分由小标题引领四条路线,配有丰富的图片和精美的设计,在视觉上给人很强的冲击。旅游宣传册是日常生活中的常见材料,主要有三种功能。第一是信息功能,向读者介绍目的地的基本信息,描述其基本特点。第二是表现功能,使用富有感染力的语言表现作者的态度、观点等,例如:文本中用admire the architectureenjoy the excellent local food 等语言所描述的事物会给读者留下深刻的印象。第三 是感染和共鸣功能,这是旅游宣传册的最终目的,即通过拉近与读者的关系,激发读者的共鸣,吸引读者加入旅行。文本中的So come and experience what Peru has to offer: ...就是典型的例子。此外,文本中还大量运用了祈使句及第二人称you做主语的句子,使读者有身临其境的感觉。教学目标 能正确理解使用下列词汇:accommodation, flight, unique, destination, admire, site2. 能够总结归纳介绍性文本(百科全书)和旅游宣传册的结构特征、文体特征和语言特点。 3. 能够欣赏旅游宣传册里的富有感染力的表达。4. 能够基于所读文本,根据游客的兴趣爱好推荐合适的旅行路线。5. 了解秘鲁的地理、历史、文化及景观,扩展国际视野。教学重难点【教学重点】引导学生掌握介绍性文本和旅游宣传册的结构特征,文体特征及语言特点。【教学难点】了解秘鲁旅游资源及文化,形成个人见解。教学过程Task Explore PeruStep 1 Warming-up1. Guessing game: What is this country?           It’s a country with the world’s longest mountain range, largest rainforest, oldest settlements, and great ancient civilization(文明).           It’s a country with coasts, highlands, and jungles. You can trek(跋涉) through hot, humid jungles one day, and cold arid glaciers the next. 设计意图:猜测游戏能够提起学生的好奇心和兴趣,以此引出本课的主题。Step 2 Pre-readingWork on Activity 1. Watch the video Welcome to Peru. Answer the following questions.(1) What did you see in the video?(2) What impresses you most in the video?2. What are some other sources from which we can find more about this country?To find more about Peru, we can check online, use an encyclopedia, go to the library or get some travel brochures.3. Introduce the contents and the features of the two text types: An encyclopedia and a travel brochure.An encyclopediaInformative in nature, it usually presents all the basic facts of a subject, good or bad. Features: simple language, brief content, objective descriptionTravel brochuresIt presents only a selection of good points about a place, making an effort to help the reader imagine what it is like to visit the country, and in an effort to persuade the reader to book a holiday. Features: vivid pictures, beautiful design, clear structure, powerful and expressive language, more subjective descriptionStep 3 While-readingWork on Activity 2. Read the two texts about Peru quickly. Focus more on titles, headers, pictures and charts and then decide what types of text they are: encyclopedia or brochure?  Text 1: An encyclopedia entry or introductory passageText 2: A travel brochureBased on the map given, read text 1 quickly and answer the question below. What information about Peru is covered in this text?Pair work. Read text 1 again and then fill in the form below with your partner. Then retell the text with the help of the form. Work on Activity 4. Read text 2 and fill in the table. Then discuss the question below with a partner. Which tours would you recommend for people who enjoys history and culture?Work on Activity 3. Complete the passage with the correct forms of the new word from the two texts. In a travel brochure, you can always find some words and expressions which are very powerful, expressive and impressive. How?Suppose you are a travel agent. Four tourists are consulting you about the travel to Peru. Based on what you have learned, recommend a suitable travel route from activity 4 to them and give the reasons. Choose one of the tourists as your target customer. You are supposed to write a passage to introduce him a tourist destination you have been to and design a brochure for him.
