    2023年广东省深圳市南山区中考一模英语试题

    学校:___________姓名:___________班级:___________考号:___________

    一、完形填空

In times of distress(悲伤), a friend would always suggest going for a walk. “Are you troubled by your work? Take a ___1___ around the neighborhood.” ___2___ like this are often made with nothing but the best of intentions, but they used to make me ___3___ as much as being told to drink more water. I did not understand how these things were going to help.

Three years ago, I hit a low point. Once I saw a pair of empty eyes looking at me through the mirror, I knew I was at my breaking point(极限). So, I took the advice. I went for a walk—with the ___4___ that it would somehow change my life.

I embraced(拥抱)the fresh air everyone seemed to be talking about. But I was just as sad as I was before. I went on a walk every single day for more than a month. Some days I could hardly make it outside, but I ___5___ to push through. I took a picture every time I went. I think I was trying to make an effort.

One day, the ___6___ thing happened. I found myself smiling. I realized I had ___7___ waited all morning to go on this walk. What I once hated had become the best part of my day. I found myself ___8___ to be outside. I just danced along the trails(小路), stopped to look at the beautiful blue skies and listened to music.

I’m glad I took pictures because there was a noticeable difference in my face. I slowly started to look less tired. I don’t know why I ___9___ to go on that walk for so long. I guess I didn’t want to believe that something small and seemingly meaningless could actually ____10____ my physical and mental health.

If you’re having a bad day, a bad month, a bad year or even a bad life, you should try going for a walk. Sometimes, all we need to do is try.

    二、阅读单选

Do dragons exist today? Although often mistaken for a mythical(神话的)creature, we actually live among several different types of “dragons.” For example, you may have seen dragonfly flying over a summer garden or read about a Komodo dragon lizard. The ocean has its share of dragons, too.

The blue dragon is a marine(海洋的)snail without a shell. It is commonly known as a blue sea slug(海参). This particular species of marine snail can swallow a bubble of airwhich it holds in its stomachthat enables it to float upside down on the surface of the ocean. The underside of the slug is blue, and it back is a gray color. This helps to conceal it from birds flying overhead and from fish swimming below.

Blue dragons feed on poisonous jellyfish and other similar species. When food is in short supply, they will eat each other. They collect toxins(毒素)from the jellyfish and store it in many finger-like structures. This ability to store poison gives them a much stronger sting(刺)than the jellyfish itself. They use this poison as a defense against enemies. The sting can also be felt by people.

These creatures are rarely visible for study and observation except for when they come close to land during times of onshore winds. They have been seen in Hawaii and in tropical(热带)waters around the world. Beware(当心)of the blue dragon’s sting!

11What’s the purpose of the first paragraph?

BIts gray coloring makes it look the same as ocean waves.

CIts blue underside and its gray back help it not be seen from above and below.

DIt gives off blue poison into the water to protect it from enemies.

14What’s the blue dragon’s main defense against enemies?

AIt floats upside down in the water.

BIt stores poison and stings enemies.

    CIt feeds on poisonous jellyfish.

DIt moves to coastal waters during times of onshore winds.

DThe creature are not commonly seen by people for study and observation.

In another corner of the room were a gas burner(煤气灶)and a fridge. Mrs. Jones got up and walked there. She did not watch the boy to see if he was going to run now, nor did she watch her handbag, which she left behind her on the sofa. But the boy was careful to sit on the far side of the room, away from the bag, where he thought she could easily see him out of the corner of her eye if she wanted to. He did not trust the woman to trust him. And he did not trust the woman not to trust him. And he didn’t want anyone to doubt him now.

“Do you need somebody to go to the store,” asked the boy, maybe to get some milk or something?”

“Don’t believe I do,” said the woman, “unless you just want sweet milk yourself. I’m going to make chocolate milk.”

“That will be fine,” said the boy.

Mrs. Jones heated some cooked food she had in the fridge and set the table. She didn’t ask the boy anything about where he lived, or his parents, or anything else that would embarrass him. Instead, as they ate, she told him about her job in a hotel beauty shop that stayed open late, what the work was like, and how all kinds of women came in and out. Then she cut him half of her cake. “Eat some more, son” she said.

When they finished eating, Mrs. Jones got up and said, “Now, here, take this ten dollars and buy yourself some blue suede shoes. And, next time, do not make the mistake of stealing my bag nor nobody else’s —because shoes got in this way will burn your feet. I’ve got to get my rest now. But, son, I hope you will behave yourself from now on.

The woman led the way down the hall to the front door and opened it. “Good night! Behave yourself, boy!” she said, looking into the street as he went down the steps.

The boy wanted to say something other than “Thank you, ma’am” to Mrs. Jones, but although his mouth moved, he couldn’t even say that, as he turned at the front of the steps and looked up at the large woman in the door. Then Mrs. Jones shut the door. And the boy never saw her again.

16What can you learn from the first paragraph?

AMrs. Jones walked away to see if the boy was going to run.

BActually, Mrs. Jones trusted the boy.

CMrs. Jones hid her handbag behind her on the sofa.

DMrs. Jones left her handbag on the sofa on purpose to test the boy.

17Why was the boy careful to sit on the far side of the room, away from the bag?

ABecause he didn’t want anyone to doubt him.

BBecause Mrs. Jones asked him to.

CSo that Mrs. Jones couldn’t see him out of the corner of her eye.

    DBecause he was too afraid.

18Which of the following statement is true according to the fifth paragraph?

AMrs. Jones asked the boy too many questions.

BMrs. Jones tried not to make the boy feel uncomfortable.

CThe boy ate all her cake.

DMrs. Jones complained about her job.

AHurt his feet. BBe not suitable for his feet.

CCause trouble. DBe caught by others.

20What word can be used to describe the woman?

    AStrict. BCurious. CThankful. DWarm-hearted.

    三、阅读还原6选5

When you’re trying to make friends, you’ll probably meet someone who just doesn’t like you, though you’ve never done anything personally to him/her. ___26___ Here’s some advice.

Gossip(流言蜚语)can make meeting new people difficult, especially when people hear something bad about you. It can prevent someone from getting to know you at all. When you’re in a situation like this, it feels awful. Rather than working hard to try to win them over, however, just be yourself. In time, they will see that the gossip about you is wrong. ___27___ Don’t worry about it and move on by making friends with the people who deserve to have you in their life.

You’d think that your friend’s friends would also become your friends. But it doesn’t work that way. Sometimes people are happy with the friendships they have, and they aren’t interested in adding any more. If someone chooses not to be friends with you just because you’re new to the group, it’s fine. ___28___

An even more difficult situation is when someone has actually met you and just doesn’t like you. Every joke you make is taken the wrong way. ___29___ As much as it hurts, accept that not everyone is going to be your friend. Don’t take it personally. These things could happen to everyone. There are just some people you’re not going to click with.

___30___ If someone doesn’t want to be your friend, that’s okay. Don’t get mad at them because it’s their choice. Instead, give your time and attention to the people that are interested in hanging out with you.

AEvery time you try to do something nice, they find fault.

BThere’s nothing wrong about you or them.

CThe things you do are completely accepted by them.

DIn friendship, it’s important to focus on the positives with people.

EOr, they may choose to believe it.

    FWell, what should you do?
