When Vani Sharma was five, her elder sister, Anitha was ill and had to stay in the hospital for a month. Vani and her parents often stayed close by, and a Ronald McDonald House program near the hospital served them some meals. This organization offers food and a homelike place to stay so that families of hospitalized children can be together as much as possible. Vani remembers eating pasta(意大利面食) meals prepared there by kind and welcoming volunteers.
Her family was thankful for the support they received. After Anitha recovered(痊愈), they all decided to volunteer. Seven years later, they and their friends continue helping out there by preparing a meal for 50 to 70 guests once a month.

What’s the body’s biggest organ(器官)? You might be surprised to find out it’s the skin, which you might not think of as an organ. It covers and protects everything inside your body. Without skin, people’s muscles, bones, and other organs would be hanging out all over the place. Skin holds everything together. It also protects our bodies, helps keep our bodies at just the right temperature and allows us to have the sense of touch.
Your skin can help if you’re feeling too hot or too cold. Your blood vessels (血管), hair, and sweat glands (汗腺) work together to keep your body at just the right temperature. If you were to run around in the heat, you could get overheated. If you play outside when it’s cold, your inner temperature could drop. Either way, your skin can help.
If you’ve been running around on a hot day, your blood vessels get the signal to release (释放) some of your body heat. They do this by bringing warm blood closer to the surface of your skin. That’s why you sometimes get a red face when you run around.
To cool you down, sweat glands also try to work by making lots of sweat to release body heat into the air. The hotter you are, the more sweat your glands make! Once the sweat hits the air, it evaporates off your skin, and you cool down.
What about when you’re ice-skating or sledding? When you’re cold, your blood vessels keep your body from losing heat by narrowing as much as possible and keeping warm blood away from the skin surface. You might notice tiny bumps (凸块) on your skin, and we usually call these goose bumps.

When traveling to new cities, visiting a museum is always one of my favorite things to do. Last month, Bill and I, along with our friend Hye Mi, went to visit the Tsingtao Beer Museum in Qingdao, China. It was one of our most exciting activities in the beautiful city.
Qingdao is a city by the sea in Shandong Province. A lot of visitors visit it every year. They come by train, by plane or by bus. Your third year of middle school was probably a difficult and busy time. You may have had trouble getting enough sleep. We all know that not getting enough sleep is not good for our health. But it has be found that less sleep could even cause you to have fewer friends, the Guardian reported.

When Vani Sharma was five, her elder sister, Anitha was ill and had to stay in the hospital for a month. Vani and her parents often stayed close by, and a Ronald McDonald House program near the hospital served them some meals. If you’ve been running around on a hot day, your blood vessels get the signal to release (释放) some of your body heat. They do this by bringing warm blood closer to the surface of your skin. That’s why you sometimes get a red face when you run around.
To cool you down, sweat glands also try to work by making lots of sweat to release body heat into the air. The hotter you are, the more sweat your glands make! Once the sweat hits the air, it evaporates off your skin, and you cool down.

When traveling to new cities, visiting a museum is always one of my favorite things to do. Last month, Bill and I, along with our friend Hye Mi, went to visit the Tsingtao Beer Museum in Qingdao, China. It was one of our most exciting activities in the beautiful city.
Qingdao is a city by the sea in Shandong Province. A lot of visitors visit it every year. They come by train, by plane or by bus. Also, there are many visitors arriving from Seoul, South Korea by ship. This has always been my favorite way of going to a new country. Nothing gives me a stronger feeling of arriving in a new country than getting off a ship with my passport in the hand.
After spending about 18 hours on the ship from Seoul to Qingdao, we finally arrived just in time for the Qingdao Beer Festival. The museum was the first stop of our one-week stay in Qingdao.
There were different kinds of tickets on sale. We each spent 90 yuan. We admired（称赞）the special buildings of the museum, learned about the history of Tsingtao Beer and visited the automatic production line（自动生产线）. More importantly, the ticket included two beers and a small bag of snacks to go with the beer. They tasted good! Before we left, we each were given a bottle of Tsingtao Beer with our photo printed on it. That was surely something nice to remind（使……想起）us of this great trip in Qingdao.

Your third year of middle school was probably a difficult and busy time. You may have had trouble getting enough sleep. We all know that not getting enough sleep is not good for our health. But it has be found that less sleep could even cause you to have fewer friends, the Guardian reported.
According to researchers from the University of California, people who don't get enough sleep are less willing to socialize(社交)with others. They are simply too tired to go out.
The researchers did a small study. They tested 18 young people who had just had a good night's sleep -as well as tested them again after a sleepless night.
