Operation Smile works in more than twenty developing countries and has cured over 300,000 children who have problems with their mouths. Operation Smile has won many prizes for its work and in 1999 they even started a special event called “The Journey of Hope”. 5,000 children in 18 countries were cured during the event.
On the other hand, Operation Smile trains local doctors and nurses in developing countries so that they can continue to help children when Operation Smile has left. As to the children with much more serious problems, they will send them to the USA for further treatment.

On Monday, Anne went to see if Diana was feeling better. She soon ran back home with tears rolling down her cheeks.
“Whatever has happened, Anne?” asked Marilla.
“Mrs Barry says that I sent Diana home drunk on Saturday. She says she’s never, ever going to let Diana play with me again!”
Marilla went to the cupboard and then came back to the kitchen with a bottle of wine (葡萄酒), trying not to smile.
“Anne, you gave Diana wine instead of raspberry (山莓) juice. Didn’t you know the difference?”
“I never tasted it,” said Anne. “But Mrs Barry will never believe me. And now I’ll never be able to play with Diana again!”
One evening, Anne was at home doing her homework. She was now top of the class. Matthew was at home, but Marilla had gone to town with the Barrys and Mr Lynde. Suddenly, Anne looked up and saw Diana standing at the door. She looked very worried.
