Show some pictures about The Fisherman and the Goldfish and ask the students to answer the questions.
Have you read the story The Fisherman and the Goldfish? Do you know who wrote this story? 2. Tell something about the writer. 亚历山大·谢尔盖耶维奇·普希金(1799—1837),俄国诗人、作家。代表诗作有《自由颂》《致恰达耶夫》《致大海》等。他的创作对俄国文学和语言的发展影响很大。 Step 2 New words 1. Show some pictures to teach the new words. The fisherman and his wife lived in an old house. n. 渔夫 n. 妻子 The fisherman's wife has grey hair. adj.&n. 灰色(的) They have been married for many years. married adj.已婚的 marry v.结婚;嫁;娶 The wife said, “Our house is so old.”

Ask the students to read the words in groups and try to remember them. Step 3 Reading Fast-reading 1. Ask the students to read the lesson quickly and write (T) or (F). (1) The fisherman caught a talking fish.( ) (2) The wife wanted the fisherman to ask for a new house. ( ) (3) The fisherman’s wife became the queen of the sea at last. ( ) 2. Check the answers. No. 1) The fisherman told his wife about catching a goldfish. A poor fisherman with a hat went out fishing. The wife wanted the fisherman to ask for a new house. The fisherman let the talking fish go. The fisherman caught a talking fish. 2. Check the answers. Answers: 4,1,5,3,2 3. Ask the students to read the lesson again and answer the questions. (1) How is the fisherman and the wife’s life? (2) What will the goldfish give to the fisherman if it wants to swim back into the sea? (3) What does the wife wish for? Ask the students to find out the following phrases in the conversation. lead a...life 过……的生活 pull out 抽出;拉出 open up 打开 jump out of 从……中跳出来 go back to 回到;返回 swim back into… 游回到…… at the table 在桌旁 wish for 希望得到,想要 ask for 要求 2. Ask the students to role-play the story. Director: Brian Script: Steven, Jenny and Kim Characters: Fisherman — Danny, Fisherman’s Wife — Jenny, Goldfish — Kim Sound & Set: Brian, Kate and Danny Costumes: Kate and Steven Scene 1: On the Sea (A fisherman wearing a hat is fishing on the sea. Waves can be heard in the background.) Fisherman: I am a fisherman. My wife and I lead a poor life. (He pulls out his net and opens it up. A goldfish jumps out of the net.) Fisherman: Oh, a goldfish! Goldfish: Dear Mr. Fisherman. Please let me go. I will give you whatever you want. Fisherman: Oh my goodness! A talking fish! Please go back to your family. I don’t want anything. (The goldfish swims back into the sea.) Scene 2: A Poor House (The fisherman’s wife, who has grey hair and old, dirty clothing, is sitting at the table. The fisherman walks in.) Fisherman: Can you believe it? I caught a talking goldfish today. Wife: Really? What did it say? Fisherman: It asked me to let it go. It said it could give me whatever I wished for. Wife: What did you ask for? Fisherman: I asked for nothing and let it go. Wife: How did I marry such a fool! Why didn’t you ask it for a new house? Ours is so old. Fisherman: Don’t be angry, dear. I will ask for a house. 3. Ask the students to fill in the banks and try to retell it. A poor fisherman with a hat went out fishing. He _______ his net and _______ it _______. A goldfish _______ the net. The goldfish wanted to _______ the sea. It would give the fisherman _______ he wanted. But the fisherman _______nothing and _______. The wife _______ the fisherman. My wife and I lead a poor life.我和妻子过着贫穷的日子。 lead (led,led)动词,意为“度过(某种生活)” 。 lead a happy life过幸福的生活 【拓展】lead还有“领导;带领;通向”的意思。 He led the people from victory to victory.他领导人民从胜利走向了胜利。 Our monitor led a basketball team.我们的班长带领了一支篮球队。 2. What did you ask for? 你要了什么? ask for后接物时,意思是“要求得到某物”;接人时,意思是“要求见到某人”。 I will ask for a house next time. 下次我会要一座房子。 He asked for much money. 他要了很多钱。 Someone is asking for you at the gate. 大门口有人找你。 3. How did I marry such a fool!我怎么嫁给了这么个傻瓜呢! marry及物动词,意为“结婚;嫁;娶”。主要用法: ①marry sb. 嫁给某人;娶某人 He married a French girl last year.去年他和一个法国女孩结婚了。 ②marry sb. to sb.把某人嫁给某人 He married his daughter to a teacher.他把女儿嫁给了一位教师。 【拓展】married 形容词,意为“已婚的;结婚的”。be/get married to sb.意为“和某人结婚”。 Lily got married to a driver.莉莉和一个司机结婚了。 注意:marry 是非延续性动词,当它用于完成时的肯定句中,不能和表示一段时间的状语连用。 They have been married for more than ten years.他们已经结婚十多年了。 Step 7 Summary Sum up what we’ve learnt in this period with the class. 1.
