本课时学习与变化相关的阅读理解。教学时先从谈论留守儿童入手，导入新课，再进入对课文的阅读理解。通过完成不同的阅读任务，让学生理解文本内容。

教学目标

通过本课时的学习，让学生达成以下目标：

1.知识目标

单词:seldom, influence, absent, fail, examination, boarding, exactly, pride, proud

短语:take care of, be absent from, in person, even though, take pride in, be proud of

重点句型:It is hard to believe that he used to have difficulties in school.

2.能力目标

(1)能够比较熟练地运用英语语音知识朗读课文；能够表达自己现在和过去在外表、性格、爱好等方面的变化。

(2)锻炼学生捕捉语篇主题、理解细节内容并推断语篇深层含义的能力。

(3)培养学生略读、精读的能力。

3.情感目标

培养学生积极健康的心态，学会谈论事物的发展和变化，明白事物是不断发展、变化的道理。

Show a picture of left-behind children and tell them:

Parents: We miss you, too. You know, we have to work for our family. Mom and Dad are so sorry for leaving you alone but we have no choice. Though we’re busy, we still think of you. You were a good boy and we were so proud of you. You become less interested in studying and want to leave school. We’re so worried about you. Do you have any difficulties? Can we help you?

Li Wen: Mom, I thought you didn’t love me anymore. I believed that you forgot me. I misunderstood you and father. Now I understand that even though we can’t always see each other, you’re always thinking of me. I love you!
