Teaching aims:
1. Master language of daily greetings.
Key vocabulary and phrases:
squirrel, swan, wild goose, frog.
2. Be skilled in oral expression of greetings.
Language points:

How can animals spend winter safely?
Analysis of key items and difficulties of teaching:
Function: Greetings in students’ daily life.
- Listening: Students can understand others’ greetings by listening.
- Speaking: Students can introduce themselves and greet with others.
Character building:
Motivate students’ interest in learning English. Make friends with all students.
Teaching steps(教学步骤)
1. Vocabulary study:
Step 1: Play the recording and have them point out the words and phrases in Activity 1.
Step 2: Play the recording again and have them read after the tape.
Step 3: Have the students match the phrases and pictures in PPT.
Step 4: Have the students match the phrases and pictures in Activity6 and check their answer with their partner.
2. Dialogue study:
Step 1: Practice the dialogue with the whole class and have them make corresponding reacts.
Step 2: Have students to practise the previous dialogue with their partner.
- Play a game:
Invite Ss to practise the dialogues:
1) S1: What’s your favourite animal?
S2: It’s squirrel.
S1: How can it spend winter safely?
S2: It collects seeds and nuts for winter. It often stays at home in the winter.
2) S3: What are your favourite animals?
S4: My favourite animal is bear.
S3: How can they spend winter safely?
S4: They sleep long time in the winter.
3) T: What are your favourite animals?
S: Swan.
T: How can they spend winter safely?
S: They fly to the south and back in the spring.
4. Presentation.
1.Show a picture with Eric, let Ss guess what Eric wants to say to us.
The answer is “swan” or “wild goose”. Then help them to say: “swan” or “wild goose”.
2.Practise “ How can animals spend winter safely?”.
