Proudly reading my words, I looked around the room, only to find my classmates bearing big smiles on their faces and tears in their eyes and Miss Lancelot stone-faced. I slowly raised the report, hoping to hide myself and burning to find out “What could be causing everyone to act this way?”
Quickly, I flashed back to the day Miss Lancelot gave me the task. This was the first real task I received in my new school. It seemed simple: go on the Internet and find information about a man named George Washington. Since my idea of history came from an ancient teacher in my home country, I had never heard of that name before. As I searched the name of this fellow, it became evident that there were two people bearing the same name who looked completely different! One invented hundreds of uses for peanuts, while the other led some sort of army across America. I stared at the screen, wondering which one my teacher meant. I called my grandfather for a golden piece of advice: flip (掷) a coin. Heads—the commander, and tails—the peanuts guy. Ah! Tails, my report would be about the great man who invented peanut butter, George Washington Carver.
When another classmate began his report, it all became clear, “My report is on George Washington, the man who started the American Revolution.” How could I know that she meant that George Washington?
Obviously, my grade was awful. Heartbroken but fearless, I talked to Miss Lancelot, but she insisted: no re-dos; no new grade. I felt that the punishment was not justified, and I believed I deserved a second chance. Consequently, I threw myself heartily into my work for the rest of the school year. Ten months later, that chance unfolded as I found myself sitting in the headmaster’s office with my grandfather and the headmaster informed me of his approval that I could skip the sixth grade. Justice is sweet!
    4. What did the author’s classmates think about his report?
    A. Amusing. B. Moving. C. Controversial. D. Puzzling.
    5. What does the underlined word “burning” in Para. 1 probably mean?
    A. Ready. B. Annoyed. C. Eager. D. Ashamed.
    6. Why was the author confused about the task?
    A. The teacher’s instruction was unclear.
    B. He knew little about American history.
    C. He was a new comer to the school.
    D. He followed the advice to flip a coin.
    7. Why did the author say “Justice is sweet”?
    A. He was allowed to redo the test. B. He was devoted to his studies.
    C. His efforts were recognized by school. D. The punishment was reasonable.
    C
Imagine that the genome (基因组) is a book. The book consists of 23 chapters, with thousands of stories made up of paragraphs, words and letters on different levels. There are one billion words in the book, which makes it longer than 500 dictionaries. If I read the genome out to you at the rate of one word per second for eight hours a day, it would take me a century. If I wrote out the human genome, one letter per millimeter, my text would be as long as the River Danube. This enormous document, however, all fits inside the extremely small nucleus (核) of a tiny cell that fits easily upon the head of a pin (针尖).
The idea of the genome as a book is not, strictly speaking, even a metaphor (比喻). It is true to a great extent. A book is a piece of digital information, written in one-directional form and controlled by a system that translates a small alphabet (字母表) of letters into a large dictionary of meanings through the order of their groupings. So is a genome. The only difference is that all English books read from left to right, while some parts of the genome read from left to right, and some from right to left, though never both at the same time.
While English books are written in words of different lengths using twenty-six letters, genomes are written entirely in three-letter words, using only four letters. And instead of being written on flat pages, they are written on long chains of DNA molecules (分子). The genome is a very clever book, because in the right conditions it can both photocopy itself and read itself.
    8. What facts do you know about the genome?
    A. It has 23 chapters. B. It is extremely long.
    C. It is in the cell nucleus. D. It is on the pin head.
    9. In what sense is the genome like a book?
    A. Both have digital images. B. Both are read from left to right.
    C. Both are grouped by subject. D. Both have a translation system.
    10. What can we know about genomes from paragraph 3?
    A. They are nearly of the same length. B. They are made up of DNA.
    C. They can reproduce each other. D. They are written on flat pages.
    11. Why did the writer make a comparison of the genome to a book?
    A. To focus on the differences. B. To emphasize the similarities.
    C. To simplify the concept. D. To give different description.
    D
5G wireless networks are ready to power the cities of tomorrow. However, exact implementation (实施)of 5G will vary from city to city, with each city having its own unique set of priorities, requirements, and objectives.
Since 5G enables countless service possibilities, cities must develop strategies around their specific needs. Business and civic leaders play a decisive role in this process, helping to drive smart city initiatives and ensuring that key infrastructure (基础设施)elements are in place.
Several urban areas, including Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, and Chicago, are early to benefit from 5G For operators, these large urban centers offer a critical mass of solid infrastructure to support 5G’s complex technology requirements.
Now, regional and local governments play a critical role in positioning their cities to become early 5G adopters. They have a growing responsibility to streamline the permitting process, change fee structures, and minimize regulator hurdles in order lo enable greater 5G implementation.
Efforts are already in full force by industry players to overcome challenges for a smooth build-out in areas where 5G is needed first. As business leaders take a more active role in ensuring that they are well-positioned to better 5G services, they also increase their ability to transform their organizations into smart companies. Peter Linder, head of 5G marketing for North America at Ericsson, emphasizes the critical role individual leaders can play in making 5G and smart cities a reality. “5G will be introduced in urban areas first, driven by consumer and business’s needs,” he says. “Proactive city leaders appreciate the potential value of 5G for developing smart city solutions and will partner with service providers to speed up vital network development.”
The role of business and civic leaders as stimulators for encouraging 5G adoption is decisive to creating smarter, safer, and cleaner cities. The time is right for urban leaders and business executives (执行官)to work together toward making smart cities a reality.
    12. What should a concerning government do for 5G?
    A Establish more smart companies.
    B. Tap the value of 5G application.
    C. Fulfil the requirements of 5G adoption.
    D. Collect money from local residents.
    13. What’s the most important factor in 5G implementation?
    A. Individual leadership. B. Leaders’ promoting role.
    C. Solid infrastructure. D. Promising values.
    14. What’s the aim of putting 5G in use in cities?
    A. To build smart cities.
    B. To test new technology.
    C. To regulate IT marketing.
    D. To satisfy clients’ needs.
    15. What is the author’s attitude towards 5G implementation?
    A. Negative. B. Doubtful. C. Uncaring. D. Positive.

划线词所在的句子上文“Proudly reading my words, I glanced around the room, only to find my classmates bearing big smiles on their faces and tears in their eyes. and Miss Lancelot stone-faced(我自豪地读着我的话,环顾了一下房间,发现我的同学脸上挂着灿烂的笑容,眼里噙着泪水,Lancelot小姐面无表情)”可推断,作者的报告遭到了同学们的耻笑,因此推断划线句句意为:我慢慢地举起报告,希望能藏起自己,急切地想要找出什么导致了人们这样,由此可知,“burning”意思是:急切地。
根据第二段的“Quickly, I flashed back to the day Miss Lancelot gave me the task. This was the first real task I received in my new school. It seemed simple: go on the Internet and find information about a man named George Washington. Since my idea of history came from an ancient teacher in my home country, I had never heard of that name before.(我飞快地回想起Lancelot小姐给我布置任务的那一天。
Consequently, I threw myself heartily into my work for the rest of the school year. Ten months later, that chance unfolded as I found myself sitting in the headmaster’s office with my grandfather and the headmaster informed me of his approval that I could skip the sixth grade.

C 9. D 10. A 11. C
根据第一段中“If I wrote out the human genome, one letter per millimeter, my text would be as long as the River Danube. This enormous document, however, all fits inside the extremely small nucleus (核) of a tiny cell that fits easily upon the head of a pin (针尖).”(如果我写出人类基因组,每毫米一个字母,我的文本将有多瑙河那么长。
根据第二段中“A book is a piece of digital information, written in one-directional form and controlled by a system that translates a small alphabet (字母表) of letters into a large dictionary of meanings through the order of their groupings.
根据第三段中“While English books are written in words of different lengths using twenty-six letters, genomes are written entirely in three-letter words, using only four letters.”(英文书籍用26个字母写成不同长度的单词,而基因组则完全用3个字母写成单词,只用了4个字母。) 故选A。
根据第一段中“Imagine that the genome (基因组) is a book. The book consists of 23 chapters, with thousands of stories made up of paragraphs, words and letters on different levels. There are one billion words in the book, which makes it longer than 500 dictionaries.”(想象基因组是一本书。

They offer a rich source of medicinal plants and other useful forest products. They are an important habitat for migratory animals and preserve as much as 50 percent of the species on earth, as well as a number of diverse and unique originating cultures. Tropical rainforests play an elemental role in regulating global weather in addition to maintaining regular rainfall, while buffering(缓冲)against floods, droughts, and soil erosion (腐蚀).____17____
Despite their monumental role, tropical forests are restricted to the small land area between the latitudes 22.5 degrees north and 22.5 degrees south of equator. The majority of the earth's land is located north of the tropics.___18___
Tropical rainforests are a scarce resource in the 21st century. What ever carpeted the earth’s land surface a mere five generations ago has been reduced to scattered fragments(碎片); today, more than two-thirds of the world's tropical rainforests exist as fragmented remainings.____19____Over half of this forest lies in Brazil, which holds about one-third of the world's remaining tropical rainforests. Another 20 percent of the world's remaining rainforests exists in Indonesia and Congo Basin, while the balance of the world's rainforests are scattered around the globe, in tropical regions

    43. to move
    44. flowing
    45. basically
    46. creative
    47. twentieth

到……”,故填from。
which引导定语从句,指代先行词Time Machine,谓语动词publish与句子主语which (The Time Machine)是被动关系,结合时间状语in 1895可知是一般过去时的被动语态,且,Time Machine是单数,谓语动词用单数,故填was published。
根据空前的enables him可知,此处考查短语enable sb. to do sth.
    51. 假定英语课上老师要求同桌之间交换修改作文,请你修改你同桌写的以下作文。文中共有 10 处语言错误,每句中最多有两处。错误涉及一个单词的增加、删除或修改。
    增加:在缺词处加一个漏词符号(∧),并在其下面写出该加的词。
    删除:把多余的词用斜线(\)划掉。
    修改:在错的词下面画一横线,并在该词下面写出修改后的词。
    注意:1.每处错误及其修改均仅限一词;
    2.只允许修改 10 处,多者(从第 11 处起)不计分。
Yesterday I was walking around the park while I saw some rubbishes left on the ground. People just walk by as if they had not seen it. I thought I would do something differently. I picked up and put it into a nearby dustbin. I was felt nice because I saw someone else doing a same thing as I had just done. I thought my kindness had affected him. Saving the Earth is save us humans. It is a good lesson what we should learn in life and together we can make the Earth a good place to live one step at a time.
1.while→when
    2.rubbishes →rubbish
    3.walk→walked
    4.differently→different
    6.去掉was
    7.a→the
    8.save→saving
    9.what→that/which 或去掉what
    10.good→better
故将while改为when。
故去掉was。
the same ...as... 故将a改为the。
故将what改为that/which 或去掉what。
