The Swiss couple want to travel across the worlds oceans and climb the highest mountain on every continent to promote Earth-friendly ways of life.

We are collecting good examples of dealing with climate change and living in harmony with nature and we want to spread such ideas, Schworer said. We want to help people affected by global warming and to inspire children for the future.

They have also collected trash in the mountains of Nepal with school children.

So far they have communicated with 45,000 children from South America,Australia and Asia, giving presentations about the importance of recycling and using alternative energy like solar and wind power.

故选A项。

Every year, the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre in San Francisco fills up with dance lovers. They come to take in experimental works of art that all have one thing in commonhip hop. This weekend the San Francisco International Hip Hop Dance Fest, the mission of which is to encourage the evolution of hip hop dance culture while preserving its legacy, celebrates 20 years of presenting exciting hip hop performances.

Each Dance Fest has diversity of style and group size, and a balance of local and out-of-town companies. The festival has drawn impressive international talents.

In fact, outstanding technical dance skills are only a basic standard that the festival organizers are looking for. They look for much more groups or solo artists that think outside the box. Artists that use hip hop in a theatrical way or use it to address social issues are sure to stand out. For instance, the 2010 performance Tables and Chairs served to highlight the negative effects of alcoholism on society, warning people against the addiction to alcohol.

It would be terribly irresponsible not to mention the founder, Micaya, in any introduction to Dance Fest. A popular hip hop dance instructor, Micaya began producing high energy dance shows in the heart of San Francisco in 1993.Students love her classes so much that a San Francisco newspaper once called her Best Dance Instructor.

However, Micaya was concerned about the doubtful reputation of hip hop. She made it her goal to get hip hop the same recognition and respect as other dance forms. In 1999 she started Dance Fest. It was the first festival of its kind to honor the creativity of hip hop dance in a non-competitive atmosphere. To Micaya, competitive formats leave little room for the magic that comes from true expression. One review said, Micayas festival challenges us to reconsider just how diverse and embracing hip hop can now be. Indeed, Micaya brings out the best in dancers, and has given San Francisco one of its finest festivals.

( )8.Why is the San Francisco International Hip Hop Dance Fest held?

    A.To attract international talents.

B.To encourage people to play hip hop.

C.To show the diversity of hip hop style.

D.To promote the development of hip hop dance culture.

( )9.What does the underlined word address in Paragraph 3 mean?

    A.Handle.  B.Discuss.

    C.Recognise.  D.Record.

( )10.What can we infer about Micaya?

A.She was a popular hip hop composer in 1993.

B.She made hip hop dance less diverse in 1999.

C.She popularizes hip hop dance through the Dance Fest.

D.She contributes to the increasing competition of hip hop dance.

( )11.Whats the main idea of the passage?

A.The rise and fall of hip hop.  B.A unique hip hop dance fest.

C.A famous hip hop dancer.  D.The development of hip hop dance fest.

根据第一段中的“…the mission of which is to encourage the evolution of hip hop dance culture while preserving its legacy…” The festival has drawn impressive international talents. Each Dance Fest has diversity of style…”

故选A项。

Micaya was concerned about the doubtful reputation of hip hop. She made it her goal to get hip hop the same recognition and respect as other dance forms.

故选A项。

    D

If you have trouble falling asleep, listen up. You might fall asleep 15 minutes earlier and wake up far less during the night if you put on a pair of socks at bedtime.

To understand why, you first need to grasp the relationship between core body temperature and sleep. During daylight hours, the human body has an average temperature of 37 . But your core body temperature drops as much as 1.2 over one nights sleep. This gradual decrease is a key part of how we sleep. Put simply, the faster you can lower your core body temperature, the faster you will fall asleep.

One way that your body controls its temperature is through blood vessels(血管) in the skin. If your body is too hot, your blood vessels widen, pushing the warmer blood nearer the skins surface, helping it to cool. If your body is too cold, the opposite happens. Your blood vessels narrow, restricting the flow of blood to the surface.

The palms of your feet are one of your bodys most efficient heat exchanges, since they are hairless and less protected than other skin surfaces. Researchers have shown that warming the feet before going to sleep using a warm foot bath or by wearing socks promotes blood vessel widening, which in turn lowers the bodys core temperature faster than going to sleep with cold, bare feet.

Scientists suspect that socked feet have a sleep-benefiting effect on the brain as well. The warm-sensitive neurons(神经元) in the brain become more active when theres a temperature difference between the bodys core and the feet. Researchers have found that these neurons become more active as we get sleepy and slow down as we wake up, so that warming up the feet before bedtime may give them an extra drive, making you feel sleepier.

In a small study, researchers found that wearing a pair of special sleeping socks not only sped up the coming of sleep, but increased overall sleep time by an average of 30 minutes and cut nighttime waking episodes in half. If youre worried about becoming too warm, look for socks made of natural fibers.

( )12.In which section of a newspaper can we find this text?

    A.Advertisement. B.Lifestyle. C.Opinion. D.Trend.

( )13.What change does warm feet bring to the body?

A.Slowed brain reaction.  B.Narrowed blood vessels.

C.Reduced core body temperature.  D.Decreased blood pressure.

( )14.How might the brains warm-sensitive neurons help sleep?

A.They might help to warm up the feet.

B.They might speed up temperature growth

C.They might slow down the brains blood flow.

D.They might bring on sleepiness when activated.

( )15.What is the finding of the small study mentioned in the last paragraph?

A.The warmth of socks depends on their material.

B.People wearing socks fall asleep 50 percent faster.

C.Special socks increase temperature more effectively.

D.Sock wearing helps people sleep longer and wake less

根据第四段“…warming the feet before going to sleep using a warm foot bath or by wearing socks promotes blood vessel widening, which in turn lowers the bodys core temperature可以排除B项,并确定选C项。 The warm-sensitive neurons in the brain become more active when theres a temperature difference between the bodys core and the feetthese neurons become more active as we get sleepy and slow down as we wake up…”

根据“…these neurons become more active as we get sleepy and slow down as we wake up, so that warming up the feet before bedtime may give them an extra drive, making you feel sleepier可知,答案为D。

根据 special sleeping socks not only sped up the coming of sleep, but increased overall sleep time by an average of 30 minutes and cut nighttime waking episodes in half…”

    36.has been keeping/has kept 所以填has been keeping/has kept。

故填was produced。

故填If。

故填that/who引导。

故填from。

try different ways to fight the loss of bees表示尝试不同的方式以阻止蜜蜂的消失,此处不定式表示目的。故填to fight。

include doing sth. 故填using。

It was the hottest time of the year in southern California. Steve,a star basketball player at the University of California, with his cousin Zach, had planned a camping trip in the Great National Forest for their summer vacation.

The boys gathered clothes and supplies, and began their great adventure with Brady the dog early in the morning. Upon arrival,Steve pulled over to the side of the road along the bank of the river. A wonderful place for fishing, Steve exclaimed in delight. Zach nodded in agreement.

At high noon, the sun was scorching hot. With a good harvest of fish, the boys marched into the forest with Brady following them. After a long walk, they found a clearing that was ideal for a campsite. The camp was set up immediately as Steve knew all the tricks of an experienced wilderness camper.

An afternoon nap was absolutely a special treat in mid-summer. However, the boys were waken up by the fierce barks of Brady. Outside, heavy smoke filled the air and windblown flame was skipping from the top of one tree to another. The long dry summer turned the forest into a tinderbox. In a little while,Steve and Zach were inside their tent packing their belongings.

Lets go! We can make it back to the river! They headed down against the fire-wind in the direction of the river. But Brady barked a sharp warning. Ahead of them lay a thick curtain of smoke across the track. They would never make it through that. Steve was uneasy for it was hard to find a safe way to escape in the heavy smoke.

Brady lifted his head and snuffed(嗅) the smoke-laden wind. Next moment, the dog bounded away and disappeared down a sharp slope(坡). The boys shouted for him,but he didnt come back. Steve couldnt blame Brady for panicking. He himself wanted to run even though he didnt know where to run.

    注意:

    1.续写词数为150左右;

    2.请按如下格式在相应的位置作答。

Steve and Zach hadnt gone far when there was a familiar bark. ____________________ ________________________________________________________________

    One possible version:

Steve and Zach hadnt gone far when there was a familiar bark. Brady came bounding, stopped directly in front of Steve and hit him with his head, pushing him back towards the slope. But Steve didnt get it. Then Brady grabbed the boys jeans and started pulling. The message was clear, but Steve hesitated. Of course he remembered Brady saving his uncles life when the dog was much younger. Was he still sharp enough to get them through this?

Brady pulled again,in spite of the boys disbelief, urgently. __________________________ ________________________________________

    One possible version:

Brady pulled again,in spite of the boys disbelief, urgently. OK,big guy, seeing the fire was touching underbrush nearby,Steve made up his mind. Brady led them back down the slope and into the trees. Several times the big dog stopped. Often he changed directions to find the right way. The boys were so tired but the dog bullied both boys to go on. Steve was almost numb when he heard itthe wonderful sound of rushing water! They made it back to the river.
