    Explring Mars
    背景导学
    本文主要介绍了人类“火星探索”的情况。主要介绍火星的概况,包括体积大小、地质特点、气候条件等以及我国的火星探索计划。
Mars is truly a fascinating planet fr thse f us here n Earth. As ur nearest planetary neighbur, it is ne f the few planets that we can see with the naked eye. Mars is the furth planet frm the Sun and the secnd smallest planet in the slar system. It is abut half f the size f Earth and is ften 1.referred t as the “Red Planet” because f its red surface.
The Red Planet has the largest 2.vlcan in the slar system—Olympus Mns, which is rughly 27 kilmetres high. That's abut three times as high as Munt Qmlangma. Mars als has the deepest, lngest valley in the slar system—Valles Marineris.
Mars has seasns like Earth, but the seasns n Mars are twice as lng as the seasns n Earth.Mars als has an atmsphere, but it is very thin and made up mstly f 3.carbn dixide. Because f its thin atmsphere and greater distance frm the Sun, Mars is much clder than Earth. Hwever, Mars des have weather, with cluds and winds. The dust strms f Mars can grw s big that smetimes they blanket the entire planet and last fr mnths. The ples n Mars are a lt like Antarctica, capped by ice, but much f Mars's ice is made frm carbn dixide, nt water.
The 4.similarities and differences between Earth and Mars raise many questins:Is Mars the past r the future f Earth? Hw did it becme a mstly barren planet? Many scientists believe that studying Mars can help us answer sme f the key questins abut ur planet Earth, r even the universe.
Missins t Mars have never been easy. Since 1960,mre than half f all attempted Mars missins have failed. The USA, Russia, the Eurpean Space Agency, and several ther cuntries have lst many spacecraft in their quest t explre the Red Planet.Nevertheless, they will still cntinue their explratins.Chinese experts are cnfident abut their plan t explre Mars, despite the many challenges. 5.Launching the first Mars prbe frm Wenchang arund 2020 is the first step.
The Chinese Mars prbe cnsists f three parts:the rbiter, the lander, and the rver. This 3D demnstratin vide made by the China Academy f Space Technlgy shws the 10-mnth flight f the Mars prbe befre it clses in n the Red Planet.
Entering the Earth-Mars transfer rbit, the Mars prbe separates frm the launch vehicle. Then the space-t-grund cmmunicatins link is created. Cntrllers n Earth 6.guide it int the rbit arund Mars. After cllecting detailed infrmatin abut the landing area, the prbe is ready fr the landing. The rbiter and the lander separate. The rbiter stays in the rbit fr at least a year t phtgraph key areas and mnitr the planet's envirnment, while the lander heads dwn t the surface f Mars.
Nine kilmetres abve the planet, a large parachute pens t slw the landing craft as it falls. After discarding the prtective shield and the parachute, the lander chses a safe place t land, where the Martian rver can start peratins, cllecting and transmitting 7.data back t Earth. After receiving its rders frm Earth, the rver leaves the landing pint and begins t explre the surface f Mars.
This vyage f China's first Mars prbe is just the beginning f China's deeper vyages int uter space. China will cntinue t explre strange new wrlds, seeking answers t the 8.mysteries f the universe.听力微课 (四)——学会获取数字信息
