Step1. Getting ready

Look at the Key Words. What do you know about pollution?

Key Words: Pollution, air, energy, factory, nature, plant trees, pollute, recycle, reuse, rubbish, soil, take action, water

Look at the photos and answer these questions.

What can you see in Photos A and B?

What problems do these things cause?

What are the men doing in Photo C?

What is happening in Photo D?

Step2. Warm-up

Look at the photos. Do you think boy lives in a town or in the country? Why?

Step3. Reading

Look at the photos and skim the text. Who wrote this article? What is it about?

Read the Reading Help. Then read the text and find the problems and solutions Jim mentioned.

Step4. Reading-again

Talk about the solutions that Jim's family found to save energy.

Your Opinion

Which of Jim's actions do you think can help protect the environment most? What other actions

do you want to suggest?

Step5. Vocabulary
