    My wife Laura and I were n the beach,with three f ur children,taking pictures f shre birds near ur hme in Alaska when we sptted a bear.The bear was thin and small,mving aimlessly.

    Drawing back my free hand,I struck the bear as hard as I culd fr five r six times.The bear pened its muth and I grasped its fur,trying t push it away.I was actually wrestling (扭打) with the bear at this pint.Then,as suddenly as it had begun,the fight ended.The bear mved back twards the frest,befre returning fr anther attack—the first time I felt panic.
