Dear TianTian,
Welcome to the world! Your mom and I are so excited to see who you will become.
When your sister was born, we wrote a letter about the world we hoped she and now you will grow up in a world with better education, _____________, stronger communities, and greater equality. We wrote that with all the advances in science and technology, your generation should live much better lives than ours, and we have a responsibility to do our part to make that happen. Even though headlines often focus on what's wrong, we still believe these positive trends will win out. We're optimists (乐观主义者) about your generation and the future.
But rather than write about growing up. we want to talk about childhood. The world can be a serious place. That's why it's important to make time to go outside and play.
You will be busy when you're older, so I hope you take time to smell all the flowers and put all the leaves you want in your bucket now. I hope you read your favorite Dr. Seuss books so many times and hope you start inventing your own stories about the Vipper of Vipp. I hope you ride the carousel (旋转木马) with Max until you’ve tamed (驯服) every color horse. I hope you run as many laps around our living room and yard as you want. And then I hope you take a lot of naps. I hope you're a great sleeper. And I hope even in your dreams you can feel how much we love you. Childhood is magical. You only get to be a child once, so don't spend it worrying too much about the future. You've got us for that, and we'll do everything we possibly can to make sure the world is a better place for you and all children in your generation. TianTian, we love you so much and were so excited to go on this adventure with you. We wish you a life of joy, love and the same hope you give us.
Love,
Mom and Dad

It's been almost three years since COVID-19 began spreading around the world. There have been more than 200 million cases of the virus around the world. At least 4. 25 million people have died.
After scientists developed vaccines (疫苗) that worked against the virus, many countries began to pay attention to vaccination programs. The vaccines are great tools for fighting the virus, but they haven't stopped the spread of the virus yet.
One reason is that many poorer countries are struggling to get vaccines for their people. Our country has given away hundreds of millions of vaccines to those countries, but billions more are needed.
In some countries with strong vaccination programs, many people refuse to get vaccinated. Many of these people have gotten wrong information which makes them think that the vaccines may not be safe.
Finally, coronavirus “variants (变种)” are making it harder to beat the virus. Now the “Delta variant” seems to be the worst. It spreads quickly and may cause more serious illnesses. The Delta variant is causing terrible problems in countries where people haven't had the chance to get vaccinated. Even in countries with plenty of vaccines, the Delta variant is having a strong influence on unvaccinated people.

A choice I made
There is no doubt that it is important for us to make reasonable choices in life.
Last year. I fell in love with volleyball. Then I chose to be a member of the school volleyball club. However, my parents wanted me to spend more time on schoolwork. I had a long talk with them calmly. After that, I trained hard in the club. Meanwhile, I reviewed my schoolwork as long as I finished training. To my joy, I got satisfying results not only in the matches but also in the tests.
All in all, no matter what the choice is, if it is reasonable, just make it to follow your heart. Only in this way can it bring out the best in you.
