环节1 新课导入
图片导入:提问Do you and the students near you look the same?What is the same?Are there differences between you and them?然后出示本班相貌差别较大的两名学生照片,并问:Do you think they look similar?Do you know they are cousins?激发学生浓厚的兴趣,自然而然地引出课题:Why do some students look different?And why do cousins look similar?Because of DNA.
设计意图:新课开始,教师通过图片和一些问题导入新课,能调动他们的学习积极性。
环节2
- Read the text and answer these questions.[来源:学#科#网Z#X#X#K]
(1)Where does your DNA come from?(Your parents.)
(2)Is your DNA in every part of your body?(Yes,it is.)
(3)What can scientists do with DNA? (From your DNA,scientists can identify not only you,but also people who are related to you.)
- Students read the text by themselves. Give students several minutes to remember the text,let the students find out the main phrases and sentences in the text. And then answer the questions in Exercise 1.
- Do Exercise 2 and Exercise 3 “Let’s Do It”.
- Finish Exercise 4 after class.
- 要点点拨。
(1)not only...but also...不但……而且……,连接两个相同的成分,也可连接两个分句。not only...but also...连接两个并列主语时,谓语动词和后面主语保持一致;not only...but also...连接两个并列分句,not only置于句首,通常用倒装结构,也就是说,把not only引导的分句中的助动词或be提到主语前面。
(2)【辨析】between与among
between常用于两者之间,among一般指三者或三者以上.
Jack sits between Lin Tao and Bob.
I was among the crowd. 我处在人群中。
(3) You use it to build a house.你用它来建造房子。
use的用法 use…to do sth. 用……做某事
He is using a knife to cut bread. 他正用小刀切面包。
【注意】 use的形容词是useful,它是由use加后缀-ful构成的。如:
Is the fridge very useful? 这台冰箱很有用吗?
(4) DNA is a pattern, too. DNA也是一种模型。
too表示“也”时,通常置于句末,其前用逗号隔开。
【辨析】too与either
too与either都表示“也”,其区别是too用于肯定句,表示“也”;either用于否定句,表示“也不”。它们通常都位于句末,其前用逗号隔开。如:
He has a sister, too. 他也有个小妹妹。
He doesn’t have a knife, either. 他也没有小刀。
(5) Except for identical twins, each living thing has its own unique DNA.
除了每对双胞胎之外,每个生物都有它唯一的DNA。
1)except for除……以外,只是
He is a good man except for hot temper.
除了脾气暴躁外,他是个好人。
2)own的用法adj. 自己的(用在所有格后面,加强语气) She makes all her own clothes.
她所有的衣服都是自己做的。
v. 有;拥有 Who owns the bike?
这辆自行车是谁的?
