A large male emperr penguin waddles(蹒跚行走) slwly acrss the ice t the water. He dives deep int the cld salt water and then springs back nt the ice. Nearby a female penguin sleeps as her baby rests n the tp f her feet. The penguins are enjying anther beautiful day f sunshine and freezing temperatures in the Penguin Encunter, a special hme built fr them in sunny Califrnia.
The Penguin Encunter is lcated at SeaWrld in San Dieg. It was built t help study the emperr penguin, the largest f all penguins. The emperr penguins' natural hme is in the Antarctic, near the Suth Ple. Increases in Earth's temperatures culd cause large amunts f ice t break up. Scientists feared that this drastic (剧烈的) change in the envirnment culd destry the emperr penguins' nesting areas. This wuld cause the number f emperr penguins t greatly decrease. A new hme fr them seemed t be the perfect slutin.
Scientists wanted t make the Penguin Encunter a cmfrtable hme fr the black-and-white feathered birds. A team f scientists was sent t the Antarctic t learn mre abut the emperr penguins. Scientist Frank Tdd led the team. Tdd is an expert n penguins. He has spent mre than 25 years studying them.
Getting clse t the emperr penguins in the Antarctic wasn't difficult fr the grup f scientists. Smetimes they wuld waddle clse t Tdd and his team. The scientists cncluded that this behavir culd be the result f pr eyesight. Penguins are nearsighted, which allws them t see better in the water than n land. Anther pssible reasn fr their behavir was that they had little t fear n the ice. Their enemies, such as lepard seals and killer whales, hunt mainly in the water.
Tdd and his team spent many mnths studying the diet and scial habits f the emperr penguins. It was easy t get clse t the penguins, but it wasn't easy t study them.
In the Antarctic, the temperature rarely rises abve zer degree, which is perfect fr penguins, but nt fr scientists. Once Tdd and his team had finally gathered enugh infrmatin, they made plans fr a new hme in Califrnia fr a number f emperr penguins. Scientists hped t study the birds in cnditins that were mre scientist-friendly. When the "new Antarctic" was cmpleted, Tdd and his team brught several hundred emperr penguins t Califrnia frm the Antarctic.

7.答案:①tk ②clearly ③whether/if ④hurs ⑤f ⑥what ⑦trying ⑧cnfused ⑨are talking ⑩myself
