During the 15th meeting f the Cnference f the Parties t the Cnventin n Bilgical Diversity last week, President Xi Jinping annunced that China had fficially designated its first grup f natinal parks, which cver a ttal land area f mre than 230,000 square kilmeters and cnserve nearly 30 percent f the cuntry's key wildlife species.
The five parks are Three-River-Surce Natinal Park in Qinghai prvince and the Tibet autnmus regin; Wuyishan Natinal Park in Fujian and Jiangxi prvinces; Giant Panda Natinal Park in Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu prvinces; Nrtheast China Tiger and Lepard Natinal Park in Jilin and Heilngjiang prvinces; and Hainan Trpical Rainfrest Natinal Park in Hainan prvince.
Each f the natinal parks will be divided int tw parts－the cre prtectin area, in which nly scientific research and surveillance will be allwed, and a general cntrl area, which will be pen t the public, accrding t Tang.
"In the general cntrl area, activities such as nature educatin, ec-friendly turism, camping, hiking and wildlife bservatin will be available," Tang said.
"We will cnduct surveys, make a scientific appintment system and limit the number f visitrs. The service price will als be kept within a reasnable range t make sure that the beauty f the natinal parks can be enjyed by the general public," he said.
In 2013, the central gvernment put frward the creatin f a natinal park system with the aim f establishing a series f facilities and building a unified management system by 2020.
Since 2016, cnstructin related t 10 pilt natinal parks has been launched t further explre the unified management f all facilities. The establishment f the pilt natinal parks has better prtected China's mst valuable bi-resurces and maintained the riginal natural systems.
