    The analysis of teaching material:

     The topic of this unit is healthy life. This passage mainly introduces five rules for a healthy life. It consists of 6 paragraphs. The first paragraph is a general introduction. Para.2 to Para.6 are mainly about the rules for a healthy life. The content is appropriate to students’ experienced knowledge. And it provides the students with opportunities to use target language and stimulate students to seek further information about the rules for healthy life. So the students should be familiar with the topic and be able to write a short passage about their own rules for a healthy life.

     

    The analysis of learning condition:

    The students are from Grade 9, they have achieved certain English level and have the ability to get the basic idea of the reading material. But they may not know how to write an article clearly and coherently. Moreover, their vocabulary is limited so they may have difficulties in reading and writing. As they are familiar with this topic, they should be easily activated and want to voice their own opinions on the topic.

     

    Learning objectives:

    A. Language objectives:

    After this class, students will be able to

    1. Recognize the new words and phrases:thanks to, health care, require, physical, effort, once in a while, harm.

         2. Use the sentence patterns to give advice: you have to, its adj. to do sth., you  should etc.

    B.Cultural character:

    After this class, students will pay more attention to a healthy life.

      C. Thinking ability:

         After this class, students will be able to

    1. Find out more rules for a healthy life.
    2. Make their own rules for a healthy life.

      D. Learning capacity:

         After this class, students will be able to

     1.Find out specific details in the paragraphs by reading.

     2.Learn how to write a passage with certain structure and content.

    1)  Analyze the structure and perceive the details in the article.

    2)  Help students to write a sixth paragraph by themselves.

         Inspire students to write a sixth paragraph and an ending.

    2) Ask students to match the pictures with the rules.

    Task 2:

    1)     Ask students to read paragraph 1 and answer:

    Whats the main idea of this passage?

    2)     Ask students to read the first rule and find out what we should do and what we shouldnt do. Then change this paragraph into a table.

     

    3)     Ask students to read the second rule and try to complete another table.

    4)     Ask students to read the third rule and try to draw a similar table.

    5)     Ask students to read the fourth and fifth paragraphs and complete the information. Ask them to pay attention to opinions/facts/advice.

    1)     Find out the topic sentence.

    2)     Read the first rule and answer the questions. Learn to analyze the information.

    3)     Read the second rule and try to complete another table.

    4)     Read the third and try to draw a similar table by themselves.

    5)     Read the fourth and fifth paragraphs and complete the information. Ask them to pay attention to opinions/facts/advice.
