When was the last time you went for a walk? Where did you go? What was it like? It’s fairly obvious that walking is good for you, but just how good?
Later research has shown that walking is a great form of exercise. It’s perfect for staying healthy and keeping your weight under control. It can also prevent heart disease and reduce the risk of cancer and diabetes (糖尿病). And walking can improve your mood, relieve (缓解) stress and even fight unhappiness.
But now scientists have discovered something else. A recent study has found that healthy people who walk at least eight kilometers a week have bigger brains, better memories and improved mental functions compared with less active people.
So, in light of the latest study, we decided to ask a few people about their walking habits.
“I often go for a walk before lunch in the park near where I work. I find it’s great for building up my appetite .” James Barnes.
“I go walking every weekend. It’s the same road but it’s always different. In the autumn, you can pick up the golden leaves. In the spring when the flowers come out, the colors are incredible. And in winter when it snows, the crunching sound as you walk is unbelievable.” John Nichols.
“I live in the city and often walk home instead of taking the underground. I also walk up and down the escalators for a bit of exercise.” Declan Smith.
“London is a great place to walk. I can walk from my home to where I work right through Regent’s Park, with its tall, majestic trees.” Simon Tressel.
“I’ve been getting ready for the MoonWalk, which takes place in May. It’s a walk-a-thon through London to raise money for breast cancer(乳腺癌). As part of the training, I’ve been going for long, fast walks every three days.” Dave Symmonds.
So, will you be going for a walk soon?

We all like to think that we are different, but our fears are very similar. Many people have a fear of things like snakes, spiders, heights, water, and small enclosed spaces. How do we all develop them?
There are many fears that have developed from our natural human responses (反应) to dangerous situations. When we did not live in houses, but alongside nature, we faced many more dangers from animals. We have developed a response to situations that might cause us harm, such as a bite from a poisonous snake or a bite from a dog.
However, many of our fears are learned from our experiences. For example, if you see someone almost drown, you may react by developing a fear of water. Or, if a parent has a fear of heights, it is quite common for their children to also develop a fear of heights. The reason for this is simply because children learn behavior and attitudes from their parents.
So how many people surf from phobias (恐惧症)? While almost everyone has a fear of something, whether it is spiders or flying, a fear is only classified as a phobia by psychologists if it is so serious that it affects your daily life. According to the Anxiety Disorders Association of America, 19 million Americans (around 6% of the population) have specific phobias, such as crossing bridges or going through tunnels. Another 15 million (around 5%) have a social phobia, such as public speaking. Unfortunately, those who have one phobia are likely to have others, too.
Fortunately, there are many ways to deal with fears and phobias. Because many fears are learned during our lives, we simply have to unlearn these feelings. If people confront their fear in a gradual way, they can learn to control how they react to the situation and not panic. It might not cure the fear completely, but it will probably help people to do better.
71.What do we know about fears according to Paragraph 1?
A.Different people have different fears. B.People have similar fears.
C.Fewer people are having fears now. D.Fears may be developed.

Being willing to help others is one of the fine traditions of the Chinese nation. While helping others, we can also reap happiness.
I still remember I helped one of my classmates with his English when we were in the first term of Junior Eight. Li Hua, one of my classmates, was not good at English while I did well. One day, he asked me to help him. So from then on, whenever he had problems, he would ask me, and I was patient to explain them to him. Slowly, his English improved with my help. At the same time, I found my English improved, too.
Actually, helping others is helping ourselves. We should start from bit by bit and help each other.
