He helped create a cmpany that develped a small drne that culd be cntrlled by peple n the grund. They called it “Agridrne.” It uses a special “ptical sensr” t examine crps. He says the technlgy used is similar t that used by smart phnes-except it has wings.
A cmputer prgram directs the drne t fly ver the crps. The sensr n the drne recrds fur different-clred “bands” f sunlight that are reflected ff the crps.
Jean-Baptiste Bruggeman is a farmer. He says the drne flies ver his crps at different times f the seasn and prvides a lt f infrmatin abut his crps. He pints ut that the drne pictures shw him the exact amunt f fertilizer the crps need. He says it als shws exactly where the fertilizer is needed. Sme areas f a field may need mre than thers.
As a result, Mr. Bruggeman says there is reduced nitrgen frm the fertilizer after the harvest. This helps nature. In a study published in Nature Machine Intelligence, researchers at Ohi State University shw hw artificial intelligence(AI)can fllw clinical trials t identify drugs fr re-purpsing, a slutin that can help advance innvative treatments.
Re-purpsing drugs is legal and nt unusual. When dctrs prescribe(开处方)drugs that have been apprved by the Fd and Drug Administratin(FDA)fr purpses different frm what is printed n the labels, the drugs are being used “ff-label”. Just because a drug is FDA-apprved fr a specific type f disease des nt prevent it frm having pssible benefits fr ther purpses.
Fr example, Metfrmin(二甲双胍), a drug that is FDA-apprved fr treating type 2 diabetes, is als used t treat PCOS(a disease f wmen), and ther diseases. Trazdne(曲唑酮), an anti-depressant(抗抑郁药) with FDA-apprval t treat depressin, is als prescribed by dctrs t help treat patients with sleep issues.
The Ohi State University research team created an AI deep learning mdel fr predicting treatment prbability with patient data including the treatment, utcmes, and ptential cn-funders(干扰因素).
Cn-funders are related t the expsure and utcme. Fr example, a cnnectin is identified between music festivals and increases in skin rashes(红疹). Music festivals d nt directly cause skin rashes. In this case, ne pssible cnfunding factr between the tw may be utdr heat, as music festivals tend t run utdrs when the temperature is high, and heat is a knwn cause fr rashes. When wrking with real-wrld data, cn-funders culd number in the thusands. AI deep learning is well-suited t find patterns in the cmplexity f ptentially thusands f cn-funders.
The researcher team used cn-funders including ppulatin data and c-prescribed drugs. With this prf-f-cncept, nw clinicians have a pwerful AI tl t rapidly discver new treatments by re-purpsing existing medicatins.
    32.What d we knw abut a drug used ff-label?
    A. It is sld withut a label.
    B. Its uses extend beynd the riginal nes.
    C. It is available at a lw price.
    D. Its clinical trials are rejected by dctrs.
33.Metfrmin and Trazdne are similar as bth f them________.
    A. are used ff-labelB. treat rare diseases
    C. result in sleep issuesD. are medical breakthrughs
34.What can be inferred abut “cn-funders”?
    A. They are pssible treatments.
    B. They are envirnmental factrs.
    C. They can be easily recgnized in real-wrld data.
    D. They shuld be taken int serius cnsideratin.
35.What is the main idea f the text?
    A. AI examines benefits f existing drugs.
    B. AI identifies ff-label uses fr drugs.
    C. AI finds new drugs fr cmmn diseases.
    D. AI prves the pwer f drug research.

    Shuld We Advcate Artificial Intelligence?
Nwadays, with the develpment f technlgy, artificial intelligence is becming mre and mre ppular. It is universally acknwledged that AI plays an imprtant rle in ur daily lives.
On the ne hand, I have strng grunds fr believing that AI such as face recgnitin makes ur lives much mre cnvenient and safer. What’s f great imprtance is that AI like sme rbts can als d things that are t difficult r dangerus fr peple t d. Take the snake rbts fr example, they are able t get t places that peple can’t g t and rescue peple wh were buried under the buildings in the earthquake.
On the ther hand, with AI taking the place f peple in sme industries, it will be mre difficult fr peple t get jbs t make a living. What’s mre, it is because AI desn’t have feelings r thughts that sme wrk will nt be finished perfectly when they encunter sme accidents.
Persnally, every cin has tw sides. There is n dubt that AI makes a big difference t ur life in sme ways, but it als has sme weaknesses. Only when we make gd use f it, can it bring us great benefits.
