There are so many websites to help you plan trips and book trips and save money on trips. Here is a selection of 4 you should consider bookmarking(收藏).
Dishtip. com
If I had to pick just one site to help with restaurant information around the world, it would be Chowhound. com. However, Dishtip. com organizes the world of eating out in the United States in a totally new way: By turkey sandwich or blueberry pie. In other words, by single dish, not by restaurant.
Stay. com
I’m generally doubtful of sites that say they can plan your trips for you. But for a quick information collection, Stay. com is not bad at all.
Here’s what you do: Choose one destination. Then go through the list of top attractions, museums and the like. Click on whatever you want. Those choices will turn into a personalized plan that can be either printed out or sent to your smartphone with an online city map.
Skypicker. com
Skypicker seems like the “explore” page of Kayak. com but just provides flights within Europe, at very, very cheap price.
I once booked a $48 round trip between Ryanair and Nimes in the south of France at Skypicker. com. When I actually went to Ryanair to book, the cost was $55. think the final cost might be a bit more. But still, a good deal.
Vayama. com
Vayama is a flight search engine that specializes in international travels. It sometimes gives you a lower price on a “secret carrier” whose name and exact cost you don’t know until you’ve actually your ticket.
1. Which website should you go to find the general information about a restaurant?
A. Chowhound. com. B. Dishtip. com.
C. Kayak. com. D. Stay. com.
2. The Stay. com will provide its visitors with .
A. a reliable trip plan B. useful information for their trip planning
C. an off-line guide D. printed and personalized schedules
3. How is Vayama. com different from Skypicker. com?
A. It sells tickets at much lower prices.
B. It does not show the exact ticket prices.
C. It only lists flights operating within Europe.
D. It just provides flights for international travels.

At almost every Olympic Games, one athlete is named as the greatest star, and good- natured debates follow for years to come. Usually, there's no certainty about who is really the most memorable one.
But in 1948, everyone who attended the London Olympic Games agreed on who was the greatest legend: Fanny Blankers-Koen, a 30-year-old Dutch housewife.
Before the Games, many people suggested she was too old to succeed, while others said she should stay at home with her children. When she arrived at the track, she pointed at one of them and said simply, "I'll show you."
And she did it.
Fanny Blankers-Koen won the 100m race with ease. With an Olympic gold medal to her name, she wanted to give up and return home because she missed her children so much. But her husband, Jan Blankers, who was also her coach, asked her to stay. The hurdles(跨栏)gold came next, followed by a championship in the 200m, which she won by 0.7 seconds—a huge margin(差额)that has not been matched since.
Blankers-Koen celebrated those victories with a big shopping tour, and only arrived back at the stadium ten minutes before the start of the 4x100m match. Without any warming up, she ran the last leg. When she started to run, the Dutch were in the third. But Blankers-Koen won the race by a foot.
If she hadn't been limited(限制)by the IOC rules to four events, she could have won two more golds. IOC rules forced her to drop two of her strongest events, the long jump and high jump, both of which she held the world record.
On her return to Netherland, Queen Juliana gave her a bicycle, saying she wouldn't have to run so much.
But she kept running until she finished her sport life as an athlete in 1955 with a 58th record and went to three more Olympics as a coach.
In 1999 when she was honored the greatest female athlete of the 20th century, Blankers-Koen asked, "Is it really me?" When she got a positive answer, she jumped up and did a little dance.
4. Which match did Fanny Blankers-Koen take part in without preparations before its start?
A. The hurdles. B. The 4x100m. C. The 200m. D. The long jump.
5. Why did Fanny Blankers-Koen want to go home after she won the first gold medal?
A. She was content with her victory. B. She was not sure whether she could win or not.
C. She wanted to stay with her children. D. She was too tired to take part in more events.
6. What does the underlined word “drop” in paragraph 7 mean?
A. Give up. B. Join in. C. Turn down. D. Pick out.
7. How many world records has Fanny Blankers-Koen kept in her lifetime?
A. 1. B. 4. C. 6. D. 58.
【答案】4. B 5. C 6. A 7. D

A Journey to the Yosemite Firefall
Each year, thousands of people are attracted to the Yosemite National Park in California for a chance of seeing — and photographing — the unique “firefall”. The amazing “firefall” comes to life only when there is enough water from the melting (融化) snow to keep the Horsetail Fall flowing and when the light of the setting sun hits the waterfall at the right angle. It can only be seen for a short time in February on clear sunny days.
This year, the weather isn’t stopping the “firefall” from happening, but it is making the journey to see it more difficult.
“What would have been a 10-minute walk turned into a two-hour hike through deep snow?” photographer Ryan Fitzsimons said about his recent trip to see the phenomenon. “Our clothes were all wet by the time we got to a viewing site. But the heavy snow made the sight much more beautiful since the waterfall is much bigger this year.”
Another photographer Andy Heitz was making his first trip to see the “firefall”. He had to wait five hours in the extreme cold for his turn to take a picture.
“I got to the site at about 12:00 at noon. The place was already filled with hundreds of people waiting to see and photograph the ‘firefall’. I was so lucky that I shot a really wonderful burner! I was completely amazed with what I saw,” he said. “You know, only on a couple days of the year in February and when the sun sets down at the perfect angle to shine on Yosemite’s Horsetail Fall can we see the ‘Fire Fall’. I’ll never forget what I have seen.”
The “firefall” should continue to be there from 20 to 24 February. But park officials said that there’s no guarantee (保证) that visitors will see it on any given day.
8. When might be the best time to take pictures of the “firefall”?
A. Early in the morning. B. At noon.
C. Late in the afternoon. D. At night.
9. What does the underlined word “burner” in paragraph 5 refer to?
A. A worker in the kitchen.
B. The fire in the Yosemite National Park.
C. A part of a cooker or stove.
D. The unique Horsetail Fall in the setting sun.
10. Why might the “firefall” disappear between 20 to 24 February this year?
A. There wouldn’t be enough snow. B. It might be too cloudy.
C. The waterfall might not freeze. D. The snow might met too fast.
11. What is the main purpose of this text?
A. To introduce an attraction. B. To give suggestions for a trip.
C. To advertise a park in the US. D. To explain what is a “firefall”.

What you do after studying could play a big part in how well you learn and remember. Today on Education Tips, we will explore two no-cost ways that can help you improve your learning: wakeful rest and sleep.
When many students finish studying, they often go straight to another activity. Perhaps they look at their phone or computer. They might even play a video game or watch television. But research suggests that resting after your study may help you remember what you have studied.
The basic idea is this: by stopping your activity after the study, your brain gets a chance to rest. Resting is difficult when you are playing computer games.
While this might sound unusual to you, many studies have explored the benefits of resting after learning—which is called “wakeful rest”.
A 2019 study found that both young and older adults were able to better remember information they learned after doing wakeful rest.
If you want to give “wakeful rest" a try, here are a few simple things to do. Rest quietly for five to ten minutes. Do not look at your phone, read stories or play games. It is really that easy!
Besides wakeful rest, sleep is also important for learning. The Division of Sleep Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS) notes that sleep helps people to learn in two ways. A report on the school5s website explains that “a sleep-deprived(剥夺) person cannot focus attention well and therefore cannot learn well”. It also says, “Sleep itself helps us to memorize and that memorizing is very important for learning new information. ”
The National Sleep Foundation(NSF) suggests that adults between the ages of 20 and 64 get between 7 and 9 hours of sleep per day. Teenagers may need a little bit more, and people over the age of 65 may need a little less.
Try to get some “wakeful rest” after a study. Then try to get a good night's sleep. That's it---a simple, no-cost way to help you remember what you learn.
12. What is paragraph 3 mainly about?
A. The importance of sleep. B. The good ways to get a rest.
C. The reason for having a rest. D. The types of resting activities.
13. Which activity might be recommended shortly after studying?
A. Reading a newspaper. B. Playing a video game.
C. Sitting there doing nothing. D. Having a nice sleep at night,
14. How long should teenagers sleep each day according to NSF?
A. Less than 7 hours. B. Just 7 hours.
C. No more than 9 hours. D. Around 9 hours.
15. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Low-cost Tips on Working
B. What to Do After Your Study
C. Why Do We Need to Have a Good Sleep?
D. How Long Should We Rest After Learning?
【答案】12. C 13. C 14. D 15. B

Know the way out. ____20____ Make sure that they know where all ladders are, and that you teach them to use them for entering and exiting the pool safely. Although your child may be able to lift herself or himself out of the pool using the side, that is not the safest way to go.

【答案】The Advantages of Traveling
As the Chinese saying goes, “It is better to travel ten thousand miles than to read ten thousand books.”
As far as I am concerned, traveling can not only make ourselves relaxed but also broaden our mind and enrich our knowledge. When we are traveling, we will be lost in the beautiful scenery and forget our stress and worries. Secondly, when traveling, we may meet some people who share the same interest and hobbies with us, and we may develop a lasting friendship. Besides, he who travels far knows more. Traveling can provide us chances to deal with problems, thus we can gain more knowledge and improve our ability.
第二节(满分25分)
47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
Last year, I went to Los Angeles for a holiday after I won the Vans U.S. Open of Surfing championship. It was a sunny day, with a blue, cloudless sky over a calm sea. I went outside and climbed up onto the roof for a break. I sat and watched people swimming in the sea. But then, as I looked in the distance, I saw a series of three or four big waves heading toward the shore. I'd seen these mini-tsunamis many times before. They were heading at speed towards the swimming area. Most people knew to look out for them, but from the screams that started coming from the beach, I could tell someone was in trouble.
Without thinking, I ran down into the street, grabbing my bodyboard on the way. I shouted at a stranger to call the lifeguard. My neighbor Tom had heard the screaming as well and was also outside with his bodyboard, so together we rushed to the steps that led down to the beach.
When we got down there, we discovered the waves had pulled two boys into the open sea.
I knew that the nearest boat would take at least 30 minutes to reach us. I wasn’t used to this sort of emergency — I'd never been trained as a lifeguard — but I didn't think twice about trying to save them. I suppose in a way I wanted to impress everyone; at 19, a deal like that can seem like a good opportunity to show off.
Tom and I dived into the water. It took us 10 minutes to locate them. When we finally reached them, they were barely able to stay afloat, their heads bobbing up and down in the water. We could tell they were still alive from their small breaths but it was clear they wouldn’t have been able to stay there much longer. Tom and I held the boys and pulled them over our boards.
注意
1. 续写词数应为150左右。
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡上的相应位置作答。
We began pushing them back to the shore, but the waves were getting stronger.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
When we arrived at the hospital, the two kids were in better condition.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】Para 1:
We began pushing them back to the shore, but the waves were getting stronger. We had to wait. We eagerly hoping for the arrival of the saving boat. The wild wind blew and the freezing sea water clapped our bodies continuously. 30 minutes seemed much longer as we just helplessly floated on the boundless sea. After a long time, a light spot appeared in the distance! We waved our hands and yelled out for help. The boat finally reached us and took all of us back to the shore. The two children were immediately sent to the nearest hospital.
Para 2:
When we arrived at the hospital, the two kids were in better condition. Picturing what the merry scene would be, relief lay in my heart and happiness etched on my face. The next morning, all the people I met smiled to me and could not stop praising me. It seemed like a good opportunity to show myself off, but I didn’t mean to. In fact, I was ashamed I had thought about it. It occurred to me that helping others was priceless and everyone should be a lifeguard.
