一 Teaching aims

Knowledge aims: Students can listen, speak, read and write the words and phrases:dining hall, gym, grass, years ago, months ago, last year, last month; Students can sum up the time phrases of different tense which we have learned before.

Ability aim: Ss can use the words and phrases that we have learned to describe some place of different times---before and now.

Emotion aim: Know about people’s living condition and situation in Tang dynasty and can use the simple sentences to describe it.

二 Key and difficult points

Key points: students can listen, speak, read and write the words and sentences of this part.

Difficult points: students can use the simple past tense and the present tense correctly.

Task--based teaching method and communicative teaching method.

五 Teaching procedure

（一）Review and warm up

1 Review the phrases of unit 3；

Went camping, rode a horse, ate fresh food, bought gifts, hurt my foot.

2 Free talk

T: How was your weekend?         S:It was good, thanks.

T: What did you do last weekend?    S:I......

T:Where did you go?               S: I went to.......

T:Did you go to NangKang?          S: Yes, I did.

T:How did you go there?            S；I went there by........

（To review the old knowledge）

（二）Presentation

1. Teaching the words and phrases. Show the picture of grass in our school.

T: Look at this picture, what is this?

Students: It is grass.

Write the word “grass” on the blackboard and teach the pronunciation of it.

Chant: grass, grass, play football on the grass.

Use the same way to teach dining hall and gym.

Chant: dining hall, dining hall, have lunch in dining hall.

     Gym, gym, have fun in the gym.

T: The dining hall, the grass, the gym in our school are beautiful, but there was no dining hall in our school two years ago.

Write down the words “ago” on the blackboard and teach the related phrase of time at the same time.

2. Teaching the sentences.

Show the pictures of our school in different times.

T: This is our school 20 years ago. This is our school now. what change can you find?

Ss: …

T: yes, there was no dining hall in our school.

Write down the sentence “There was no dining hall in my school twenty years ago.”

(三)  Practice

Play a game “what is missing?”

Teacher show students a PPT including some new words. For 10 seconds, then show them another PPT which is missed one or two words and ask them which words have missed. Play this game for three times.

(To create a interesting atmosphere and practice the new words.)

(四)  Consolidation

Listen and write

Show Students a PPT which includes 6 buildings.

Ask Students to write down the time phrase according to the tape.

Look! This was our school five years ago. At that time our school was very small. The buildings were not tall and there was only a small playground. We had lunch in the classroom. This is the map of our school now. It changed a lot. Now our school is big. You can see many buildings. Four years ago. We got the library. We got our dining hall and gym two years ago. Last year, we got our new building. It is tall and big. There are 36 classroom in it.

（To consolidate the knowledge which we have learned today.）

(五)  Conclusion

Read the new words, phrases and sentences again.

(六)Homework

Describe the changes which have happened around your home with phrases and sentences that we have learned before.

七 Teaching reflection

In this class, I think the most successful thing is that the students can recognize and pronounce the words correctly. The use of chant to learn words is very effective, and at the same time improve the atmosphere of classroom learning. When learning sentence patterns by comparing the present appearance of the school with the past, the students master them well and can express them accurately. When writing sentence patterns, the students write the words neatly and the sentence format is correct.

 The deficiency is: 1, the class is tense, some sentences are wrong. 2, the PPT is not demonstrated in advance, the PPT is wrong when playing.
