预测卷02 二、阅读理解(每小题2.5分,共15小题,满分37.5分)ASeveral years ago,our family rented a house that had a basement apartment under ours. The young couple who lived below us were quiet and modest.Their dog, however, was not. Cody was an outgoing black dog with a big tail.He loved to greet us by planting his huge paws on our chest. Our dog Tasha has a similar characteristic.Because she shared the yard with Cody, they soon became good friends. We often saw a ball of black and white fur as they raced neck and neck toward some unlucky bird that had just landed in the yard. The only time I saw any conflict between the two dogs was when we fed Tasha Cody would jump up.expecting to share Tasha's food.HoweverTasha would bark fiercely.Cody would change his strategy, dropping to his belly and moving slowly toward Tasha's dish. But this friendly behavior did not impress Tasha . The closer Cody got,the louder Tasha shouted.Finally.Cody would slip away with his tail between his legs-until next mealtime. Then Cody, ever the optimist, would replay the scene.with the same disappointing conclusionOne day my husband Jeff came home quite upset .He had just found Cody lying by the side of the road.killed by a speeding truck.Tasha cleaned Cody' s smooth black fur with her nose and mouth and whined(R).Over the next few weeks.Tasha was in low spirits with her tail between her legs. She obviously missed her old friend. At the same timeTasha's dish disappeared. We replaced it with another, only to have that one disappear as well. There followed a steady succession(连续)of bowls, plates, even an old coffee can. They all disappeared Finally, the mystery was solved when our neighbor knocked on our door, her arms loaded with the missing dishes, some still half-full of dog food."Are these yours?"she asked. When Jeff and I nodded, she explained,"l saw Tasha headed toward the road,so I followed her. Then I noticed all these dishes in a pile."Puzzled,I asked,"Where were they?"“Well, you know,"she answered thoughtfully,Fit was right by the place where Cody died. Isn't that strange?Surely Tasha couldn't..."Her voice turned down in confusion.Jeff and I exchanged glances.Has Tasha been begging her old friend back by offering him the one thing she refused to give him when he was alive?Even today, retelling the story makes me feel sad.It raises questions about animal’s intelligence and emotions. It also reminds me that I need to share whatever blessings I've received with others---before it's too late.21. We can learn from the passage that TashaA. was an outgoing white dogB. lived in a basement apartmentC. was pot friendly to the young coupleD. was the enemy of Cody due to the yard22. A dog often feels disappointed or sad whenA. dropping to the bellyB. barking fiercelyC. putting the tail between legsD. cleaning fur with its mouth23. In the author's opinion, why did Tasha move its food away?A. Because it wanted to hide it for herself.B. Because it wanted to hide it for Cody.C. Because it wanted to show Cody what it had.D. Because it wanted Cody to come back to life.BRegrets are often painful. A study suggests that some people can overcome them, said Jia Wei Zhang, a psychology graduate at the University of California. But this isn’t the case for everyone, he said. The researchers wondered why some people report feeling improvement from regrets but others don’t. Does it lie in how people approach their regrets? In the study, the researchers focused on self-compassion (自我同情) as a potential factor in why some people have an easier lime leaving their regrets behind them.400 people attended an experiment. First, they were asked to write about their biggest regret. Half wrote something they did but wish they hadn’t done; the other half wrote something they didn’t do but wish they had. Then, the participants were randomly assigned to one of three groups: self compassion, self-esteem and a control group. The self-esteem group was asked to respond by “talking to yourself about this regret from the aspect of confirming your positive qualities”.The control group was asked to write about their favorite hobby rather than their regret. Then, they were asked about their feelings of forgiveness, acceptance and personal improvement following the exercise. They found that the self-compassion group reported greater feelings of acceptance, forgiveness and personal improvement, compared with the control group and the self esteem group. In other words, focusing on your best qualities is not what helps you feel better about a regret. Rather, being compassionate toward yourself is what may make a difference, the researchers found. It’s possible that people who practice self-compassion are able to confront their regrets and see what went wrong so they can make a better choice in the future, Zhang told Live Science. Self-compassion pushes people to accept their regret instead of running away from it.The researchers used an example of this from a previous study on breast cancer patients who were asked to try thinking about their treatment in a positive light before it began. The women who did so reported greater feelings of personal growth later on.24. What does the underlined word “confront” in Paragraph 7 mean?A. Handle B. Forget.C. Ignore D. Show.25. What were the students in the self-esteem group asked to do?A. Think of a way out. B. Write about their regrets.C. Record their favorite hobbies. D. Treat their regrets in positive ways.26. Why were the participants asked about their good qualities?A. To cover up their regrets.B. To see if they have weaknesses.C. To see if they have self compassion.D. To help them feel better about their regrets.27. What was the aim of mentioning the researchers’ study on breast cancer patients?A. To show the method of the research.B. To show the value of the acceptance.C. To show the truth of people’s feeling.D. To show the difficulty of the research.CThe average bear, it seems, is getting ever smarter. First, it turned out that at least one can use a comb. Now it appears that some can count, too.Jennifer Vonk, of Oakland University, in Michigan, and Michael Beran, from Georgia State University, set three American black bears the task of distinguishing between numerically larger and smaller groups of dots(点)on a computer screen. In return for a food reward one bear, Brutus, would touch the more heavily dotted pattern with his nose. The others, Bella and Dusty, would touch the screen with their claws(爪子).As the researchers report in Animal Behavior, the bears did best with patterns where the coloured dots did not move and where more of them also took up a larger coloured area. This could be explained by the bears' distinguishing the different areas of colour rather than truly counting the dots. However, the three bears managed to pick out the bigger number of dots even in pairs of patterns where fewer dots took up a larger area.Moving patterns, where each dot followed its own path around the screen, were more of a challenge. But Brutus, at least, was not defeated. He seemed to be counting mobile dots even when the scientists tried to mislead him by moving the total coloured area of the dots at the same time.It is not entirely surprising that bears should have a high degree of intelligence. They face a lot of challenges when trying to get food. They are, however, always alone, and so do not have the complex social systems that contribute to animal smarts. Perhaps, then, their maths skill developed because they cannot count on their friends for help.28.What task did the scientists set for the three bears?Distinguishing different dot patterns.Figuring out different colours of dots.Putting the dots into differently coloured groups.Picking out the group with a larger number of dots.29.For the bears, the task was easier when .the coloured dots were moving slowlythe dot patterns were regular in shapethe dots followed a path on the screenmore dots covered a larger coloured area30.What may explain the bears' high degree of intelligence? They learn skills from other animals. They face life challenges on their own. They feed on a diverse range of food. They have complex social networks.31.What can be a suitable title for the text?Bears Taught to Distinguish ColoursNew Evidence of Bear Intelligence FoundThree Bears Leaned How to CountThe Smartest American Black Bear BrutusDNezha is the subject of the latest feature, which officially opens in cinemas in China on Friday. Nezha has earned hot reviews and is ranked higher than Monkey King: Hero is Back. It is also China’s first 3D animated feature film released in IMAX format.Since July 13 previews of the film have taken more than 140 million yuan at the box office and the film has a score of 8.8 points (out of 10) on China’s largest filming rating site, Douban. It took Jokalate Yang Yu, the film’s director and screenwriter, two years to improve the script (剧本) of Nezha, and the film was in production for three years. It is the most complex animated production ever made in China. Nezha has more than 1,300 special effects shots, and it took over 20 Chinese special-effects studios, employing more than 1,600 people, to realize the film’s fairy tale setting, the mysterious Dragon King’s palace and a fight between fire and water. One splendid scene alone took two months to complete.Yang made up his mind to produce an animated film on the theme of breaking the traditional styles and changing fate to the opposite. Yang chose Nezha as his vehicle, the representative of the rebellious (叛逆的) but righteous youth. However, compared with the original novel and past animated versions, the relationships between the characters are given modern meaning. In Yang’s film he is fighting prejudice: Nezha is hated and feared. But Nezha believes his fate is not predetermined and that he can choose to be a devil (恶魔) or a god.“After watching so many domestic animated films, only Nezha and Monkey King: Hero is Back have made me fascinated,” a Weibo user commented under the promotional video.“Epic! I finished watching Nezha in tears. The content-rich story, vivid characters, and amazing visual effects, work together to create a 110-minute roller-coaster (过山车) watching experience,” a Douban user commented.“Bravo! Couldn’t believe a domestic animated film can be created with such a well-developed story. The image of Nezha in this film has been overturned but his rebellious spirit is well-established. I’m sure Nezha is gonna go viral this summer!” reads another comment on Douban.32. What does the first paragraph mainly want to tell us?A. Nezha has won lots of comments.B. Nezha is more popular than Monkey King: Hero is Back.C. Nezha is the first 3D animated film.D. Nezha is a big success once released.33. Which is not the reason for Nezha’s success?A. Its hot reviews on Douban.B. Its high qualified script.C. Its large numbers of special effects shots.D. Its creative and unconventional theme.34. What can we learn about Nezha in the new version?A. He is ready to give in to his fate.B. He represents the youth who are rebellious but righteous.C. He is liked deeply by others in the film.D. He chooses to be a devil.35. What do the audience think of the film according to the last three paragraphs?A. The film is fascinating.B. The plot of the film is flat.C. The image and spirit of Nezha have been overturned.D. The film will not go far. 三、七选五(每小题2.5分,共5小题,满分12.5分)A gratitude journal is a great way to keep yourself in a positive state of mind. We were saying good-bye. In a few hours he would be flying to France. He would be staying there for at least a year to learn another language and experience life in a different country. Before his college graduation, one day I told Daniel that the great failing in my life had been that I didn't take a year or two off to travel when I finished college. This is the best way to my way of thinking, to broaden oneself and develop a lager perspective on life. Once I had married and begun working, I found that the eagerness of living in another culture had disappeared.Daniel thought about this. His friends said that he would be insane to put his career on hold. But he decided it was not so crazy. After graduation, he worked as a waiter at college, a bike messenger and a house painter. With the money he earned, he had enough to go to Paris.Last night, I tossed in bed, unable to sleep. It was a transitional time in Daniel’s, a passage, a step from college into the adult world. I wanted to leave him some words that would have some meaning, some significance beyond the moment. I failed. Nothing came to my mind. Maybe, I thought, it wasn’t necessary to say anything. But I knew that it was necessary. My father and I loved each other. Yet, I always regretted never hearing him put his feelings into words and never having the memory of that moment. Now, as I stood before Daniel, still nothing came from my lips. No sound broke the stillness of my beach-side home. Outside, I could hear the shrill cries of sea gulls as they circled the ever-changing surf of Long Island. Inside, I stood frozen and quiet, looking into the searching eyes of my son.1.续写词数应为150左右2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答.What made it more difficult was that I knew this was not the first time I had let such a moment pass ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Thinking of those lost opportunities.
