In my everyday life, I am n an nging jurney t figure ut different ways t reduce my carbn ftprint n the planet. A carbn ftprint is the measure f influence ur activities have n the envirnment, in particular climate change. It is calculated by the amunt f greenhuse gas we prduce in ur daily lives. Frtunately, nwadays it is much easier t make ec-friendly lifestyle chices than, let's say, 20 years ag. But ne questin has been n my mind a lt lately:is it better t buy new ec-friendly prducts r used traditinally prduced gds?
After ding sme research, I have decided that sme things are better new and thers are better used.Let me try t explain.
A carbn ftprint is made up f tw parts, the primary ftprint and the secndary ftprint. The primary ftprint is a measure f ur direct emissins(排放)f carbn dixide(C02) frm the burning f fuels, including husehld energy cnsumptin and transprtatin. The secndary ftprint is a measure f the indirect C02 emissins frm the whle lifecycle f prducts we use - thse related t their prductin and breakdwn.
Based n this understanding, we have a gd deal f cntrl and respnsibility ver ur carbn ftprint. Things like dishes, clthes and furniture fall int the "secndary ftprint" grup, s less is mre and we can fcus n finding used gds t avid the added prductin Hwever, fr the car and the ther appliances(设备)that we need we can g with new energy-saving mdels. I heard smewhere that electrnics and appliances give ff 90% f their carbn ftprint after they leave the factry. S it seems mst reasnable t g fr the energy-saving mdels. The main cncern here is the amunt f energy that ges int the making f new prducts and whether r nt that extra carbn is wrth the ftprint the prduct will make nce it gets t yu.
What is the text mainly abut?
What appliances t buy t save energy.
What a carbn ftprint means in ur life.
Hw t identify different carbn ftprints.
Hw t make ec-friendly lifestyle chices.
What d we knw abut the secndary carbn ftprint?
A. It is related t ur cnsumptin f fuelS.
B. It is made when we are buying the prducts.
C. It is less harmful than the primary carbn ftprint.
D. It is cunted as urs thugh nt directly made by us.
26. Which f the fllwing helps reduce ur carbn ftprint accrding t the authr?
A. Using secnd-hand textbks.
B. Using ld and expensive cars.
C. Buying new but cheap clthes.
D. Buying new wden furniture.
27. "The ftprint" underlined in the last sentence refers t the C02 prduced in _ _.
A. using the prduct
B. recycling the prduct
C. making the prduct
D. transprting the prduct

Imagine wearing high-tech bdy armur that makes yu super strng and tireless. Such technlgy, mre specifically called an exskeletn, sunds like the preserve f the Irn Man series f superher mvies.
Yet the equipment is increasingly being wrn in real life arund the wrld. And ne manufacturer---Califrnia’s SuitX---expects it t g mainstream.” There is n dubt in my mind that these devices will eventually be sld at hardware stres,” says SuitX’s funder Hmayn Kazerni. In simple explanatin, an exskeletn is an external device that supprts, cvers and prtects its user, giving greater levels f strength and endurance. Smetimes als referred t as “wearable rbts”, they can be battery-pwered and cmputer-perated, incrprating mtrs and hydraulics. Or they can be mre simple, passive designs that use springs and dampeners.
“Integrating machines with humans pens up a new realm f pprtunity,” says Adrian Spragg, an expert n the technlgy at management cnsultancy Accenture. “Many f the early applicatins have been fcused n military and medical applicatins, but in the last several years there’s been an explsin f use in a range f cases.” This expansin, which has cme tgether with rapid advances in the technlgy, has seen exskeletns increasingly used by manufacturing wrkers. Versins fr cnsumers are als nw being develped t help peple mre easily d everything frm DIY, t walking, climbing stairs, and ther daily activities.
One reprt says sales are nw due t rcket as a result. Glbal exskeletn revenues are expected t rise frm $392m in 2020 t $6.8bn in 2030, accrding t a study by ABI Research. SuitX’s “suits” are nw being tested by car manufacturers General Mtrs and Fiat. Prf Kazerni, wh is als the directr f the University f Califrnia’s Berkeley Rbtics and Human Engineering Labratry, says that the primary benefit f the firm’s exskeletns is t prevent muscle fatigue. “We’ve shwn that muscle activity in the back, shulder and knees drps by 50%,” he says. “If muscle activities drp, that means the risk f muscle injury is less. “This means that factry r plant managers get mre prductivity, their insurance csts are lwer, and there are less wrkdays lst t injury. There’s less cst and mre prductivity.”
General Mtrs is als lking at a battery-pwered exskeletn glve develped by Biserv. This glve, called the Irn Hand, has sensrs and mtrs in each finger, which autmatically respnd t the level f frce that the wearer applies t his r her hand when lifting r gripping smething. The glve therefre takes up sme f the strain. BiServ says it can increase the wearer’s hand strength by 20% fr extended perids.
28. Accrding t Hmayn Kazerni, the equipment will g mainstream because _____.

Atkinsn said she hpes the class helped her students prepare themselves fr the amunt f envirnmental lss that will happen ver their lifetimes.
“We are already transfrming the planet – s many species and cmmunities are ging t be lst, displaced r massively (巨大地) impacted,” she said. “The future isn’t ging t be what they imagined.”
Lauren Mrrisn, anther student, said she felt empwered by learning abut climate change actins arund the glbe.
