Work in pairs to complete the task 2e, then act out the dialogue based on your own April Fool's Day story.

Language points

1. Many people ran to their local supermarkets to buy as much spaghetti as they could.

as…as sb. can / could意为“某人尽可能地……”，相当于as…as possible，中间一般接形容词或副词的原级。

例句：I always try to help others as much as I can.

      我总是尽我所能地帮助别人。

2. The lady was so happy because she really wanted to get married.

marry    v.  “结婚；嫁；娶”

(1) marry sb. 表示 “和某人结婚”

(2) get married to sb.  意为“与某人结婚”，该短语表示动作，不能与一段时间连用。

(3) be married to sb.  意为“与某人结婚”，表示状态，可以和表示一段时间的状语连用。

例句：She married John last year.

     = She got married to John last year.

     = She has been married to John for one year.

     她去年嫁给了约翰。

3. Many April Fool’s jokes may end up being not very funny.

end up (doing sth.) (以…)结束；最终成为；最后处于

end up sth. 表示“结束某事”

end up with sth. （以…）结束

例句：The scientist ended up his speech at last.

       那个科学家最后结束了演讲。
