人物传记故事以记述人物生平故事为主。体裁一般是记叙文，包含记叙文的时间、地点、人物、事件等要素。写作手法多采用时间、空间或逻辑线索贯穿文章始终。命题以细节为主，推理为辅，同时还伴有单词猜测题目。近年来，人物传记类阅读文章在考试中有所减少。
在人物传记类阅读中，主要来讲解两种题型：1. 细节题目2. 词义猜测题目
细节题目：人物故事类文章多为记叙文，为了支撑所要描述的人物，短语往往会出现大量细节，这些细节有时很直接，理解字面意思即可，有时则很间接，需要综合、归纳、推理才能判断。准确理解细节是做好这类题的关键。
细节题目的做题技巧： 首先，从问题中找到关键词；然后以此为线索，运用略读和查阅的技巧在文中迅速找细节；找到后再把这一部分内容仔细阅读，认真比较选项和文中细节的区别；最后，在正确理解细节的前提下，确定最佳答案。
词义猜测题目：猜测词义也是一种英语阅读能力。英语阅读理解试题中有不少这样的题目。 任何一个实词，只有在一定的上下文中才能表示一个确定的词义。所谓上下文 ，其作用就是帮助确定上下文中的词、短语或 句子的意义。据此，我们可以尽可能地利用上下文来猜测词义，即从已知推求未知，也就是用我们所熟悉的词或短语来猜测我们不熟悉的词的词义。
1. 猜测词义时，我们可以从三个方面来考虑：（1）根据上下文已知部分进行逻辑上的推理。（2）运用语法知识进行语法分析。（3）依靠常识和经验做出判断。
2. 根据上下文猜测词义的方法有下列几种：（1）根据定义或解释猜测词义。（2）根据并列、同位关系猜测词义。（3）根据同义、反义、因果关系猜测词义。
