Do you know what ‘fact’ and ‘opinion’mean?S: A fact means something true, and an opinion means what the writer thinks, it may or may not be true. ( If the students can’t explain the meaning, make students have a group discussion).T: For example. Here are some sentences. Can you tell them?James is tall. (Fact )He is the best basketball player in the world. (Opinion)There are many books on the teacher’s desk. ( Fact)They are veryinteresting to read. ( Opinion)The sports meeting lasted sixteen days. ( Fact)It was so excited. ( Opinion)Look at the sentences on P52, try to analyse the differences between the fact and the opinion.
