    Step 1. Step 1 Greetings

    Get a student to come to the black board to give a daily report, then the teacher ask and answer questions according to the passage.

    Step 2  Presentation

    1. Help students have a revision about sports by pictures and videos from London Olympic. Then find out the answers to the question “What sports can you see?”

    2. Ask one studentDo you like sports? Do you like watching matches? What sports do you like? Who is your favorite player?Then get them to ask and answer in pairs whiling looking at the pictures.

    Teach the new word: player, member, hope, come true….

    For example: 1) Who is he? (He is SunYang )

     

           What is he? (He is a swimming player.)

               Do you know anything about him?

               ( He gets a gold medal in men swimming competition)

                2) Do you know him?

       We all know him, he is a famous football player. He is Beckham. He often plays football in matches.

    …….

    Step 3 Reading

    (Let’s get to know about Simon’s favorite football player)

    1. Get students to listen to the recording first. Then find out the answer to the question : Who is his favorite football star?

    2. Encourage them to listen again, and answer more questions:

    1). Where does Li Hua come from?

    2). What does he look like?

    3). What is his dream?

    4). What does Li Hua do in his free time?

    5) What club is he in?

    3. Get the students to read after the tape and try to imitate the stone.

    Step 4. Exercise

    1. Read the text again, and help Millie complete the information card about Li Hua.

    Club:        Looks:

    Comes:       Lives in:

    1. Use your head and help Millie write the correct paragraph numbers

    _______ What is Li Hua’s dream ?

    _______ Who is Li Hua?

     

    ________Who is Simon’s favorite football player?

    ________What does Li Hua do in his free time?

    Have a free talking with students :

    Get them to watch a short video of London Olympic Games. Maybe they are very interested in it. And try to find out more sports.

    Present some pictures for discussion.

    And help them to learn new words.

    Foe example:

    This is David Beckam. He is my favourite football player. He is a football star. He comes from England, but now lives in the USA. He is a member of Los Angeles Galaxy Football Club.

    Get them to pay attention to the new words:

     Favourite,   club,  member,  player

    Practice: Having a talk in pairs

    S1: …, what sport do you like ?

    S2: I like …..

    S1: Who is your favourite player?

    S2: My favourite player is ….

    S1: What club is he\she in ?

    S2: He\she is a member of ….

    S1: Where does he \she come from?

    S2: He\she comes from…..

    ……

    Get students to read the text quickly, then fill in blanks about the information of Li Hua.

    Homework: Rewrite the new words and try to repeat the text.
