Unit 8 It must belong to Carla（第2课时）

一、Teaching aims：

1.Knowledge aims：

1) words：attend,valuable, pink, anybody

Sentence patterns：

The person must go to our school.

It can’t be stolen.

I think somebody must have picked it up. 

2. Ability aims:

      Master some listening skills.

      The ability of making conversation.

二、Teaching important and difficult points

1. Teaching important points：

1) New words: pink, rabbit, valuable, somebody, anybody

2) Learn to role-play the conversation.

2. Teaching difficult points：

  Role-play the conversation and make their own conversations.

三、Teaching procedures

Ⅰ. Revision

   Learn to use “might, could, can’t,must”to make some sentences. 

Ⅱ. Pre-listening

   Guess what things they are in the schoolbag and the modal verbs in the blanks in 2b.

Ⅲ.While-listening(2a,2b)

Work on 2a:

1. Look at the chart in 2a.

 2. Play the recording for the Ss to listen and check the words they hear.

Work on 2b:

1. Let Ss read the sentences below. Explain some main sentences for the Ss. Make sure they know what to do.

2. Play the recording for the Ss to fill in the blanks with the right words. 

   3.Ask students to pay attention to the listening skills.

Ⅳ. Post-listening

  1. Play the recording again to check the answers.  

  2. Pair work:Make the conversations using the information in 2a and 2b.

  3. Let some pairs act out their conversations before the class.

e.g.  A: Look! There's a schoolbag here.

         B: What's inside?  

         A: There’s a T-shirt, …

Ⅴ. Summary: the usage of modal verbs

Ⅵ.Role-play 

1. Read the conversations and Let Ss read after the teacher. 

2. Explain some new words and main points in the conversation.

3. Ask Ss to role-play the conversation in groups.  

Ⅶ. Language points

    belong to 意为“属于”，它一般不用于进行时态和被动语态。

  2. Well, where did you last put it ?

    last  adv. 上次; 最近的一次; 最后一次

  3. I attended a concert yesterday so it might still be in the music hall.

    辨析 join/take part in/attend

     join指加入某个党派, 团体组织等, 成为一员, 意为“ 参军, 入党, 入团 ”。

e.g. join the Army/the Party/the League

join sb. in (doing) sth.

e.g. Will you join us in the picnic?

join in多指参加小规模的活动如“游戏, 比赛”, 口语中常用。

e.g. Join in the basketball game. 

    take part in 指参加会议或群众性活动, 着重说明主语参加该项活动并在活动中发挥作用。e.g. We’ll take part in the sports meeting/club.

attend 正式用语vt. 指参加会议, 婚礼, 葬礼, 典礼; 去上课, 上学, 听报告。

e.g. I attended a night school.  我上夜校。

4. I think somebody must have picked it up.

    must在此处表示推测, 意为“一定”。英语中当情态动词后接have done时, 表达对过去的事情进行推测, 故must have done something表示“过去一定做过了”这样的意思。

    e.g. He’s playing outside. He must have finished his homework.

5. I’ll call them now to check if anybody has it.

    anybody  pron. 任何人
