I. Teaching Aims:
1. Knowledge aims:
a. Students can read, understand and spell key words :tiger, elephant, koala, panda, lion, giraffe, zoo, animal, pet, cat, leg , kind of b.
b .Students can grasp the following sentence structures.
Why do you like pandas? Because they’re kind of interesting.
Why does John like koalas? Because they’re very cute.
Why don’t you like tigers? Because they’re really scary.
Where are lions from? They’re from South Africa.
2. Ability aims:
a. Students can grasp some words they learned in the primary school.
b. Students can develop their abilities of speaking and reading and writing.
c. Students can develop their abilities of working in pairs and communication by learning useful structures.
3. Emotional aims:
a. Students learn to cooperate with their classmates and accomplish their tasks together.
b. Students can believe themselves, be active in class and show themselves to improve their English!
II. Teaching Key Points and difficult points:
a. Students can read, understand and spell the new words.
b. Students can use new sentence structures to get information about other students’ like and dislike.
c. Students can make sentences correctly..
III. Teaching Aids:
PPT, A tape player.
IV. Teaching procedures:
Steps | Purpose |
Step 1: Revision Free talk: What animals do you like? Why do you like them? Where are they from? What animal do you want to keep as a pet? | Help Ss revise the importance in the last period by free tall? |
Step 2: Presentation Present a dialogue according to the picture and the words
| Ss learn to make a dialogue to tell what they like and dislike. |
Step3 Practice Where are the animals from? | Ss consolidate the important sentences |
Step 4 Guessing Think of an animal. Ask and answer questions with your partner to guess each other’s animal. | To arouse the students’ interests to speak English. |
Step 5 Practice the dialogue | To train the students’ ability of using English |
Step 6 Writing 1. Fill in the blanks(3a) 2. Write names of animals in the blanks to make sentences that are true for the Ss.(3b) | To consolidate better by writing .
