Near the end f his race, Mussambani flagged and appeared t almst drwn as he gt clse t the finish. His time f 1: 52.72 was the slwest seen at an Olympics and mre than a minute behind the wrld recrd. N ne has recrded a slwer time since. But he received a standing clapping frm the 17,000-strng crwd.
    It was when he went t the athletes’ restaurant at the Olympic Village, he truly realized he had becme famus. “Peple started asking me fr autgraphs and pictures,” he explained. “That was a big experience fr me because I used t be a very shy guy. Peple started t lk fr me in the village.”
    Just fur years later, Mussambani halved his persnal time t 56.9 secnds.
    “They invited me t Düsseldrf in Germany in 2006 fr a shw. I had t swim 100 metres with ther swimmers and I did it in 52.18. That was my best time,” he tld the publicatin.

    Over the years, Eurpean museums have been asked t give back the artifacts. In 2009, Egypt demanded that France return five pieces f a wall painting frm the tmb f Tekati. In 2012, Nigeria asked fr the return f thirty-tw cultural items frm the Museum f Fine Arts in Bstn. In 2017, the Gvernment f Benin in West Africa tried t reach an agreement with the British Museum t return their Benin Brnzes.
    The debate regarding this issue tk a turn in 2018 when under President Emmanuel Macrn a reprt was released that directed that all heritage bjects brught t French museums be returned. With the fficial release f this reprt, museums all acrss Eurpe began recnsidering their previus plicies n clnial treasures.
    In France, twenty-seven artifacts had been identified fr return, but nly ne has been returned. Then, n Tuesday, Octber 6, 2020, France's Natinal Assembly fficially passed a bill prmising the return f these heritage artifacts, but didn't arrange a certain date.
