Wrk in pairs. D exercises 1, 2, 3 and 4. Then check the answer yu’re yur classmates. The teacher helps the students discver the difference in prepsitins.
Play the tape fr the students t listen and ask them t mark the sentence stress and intnatin. Then practice reading in pairs.
(The teacher brings the students’ attentin t the British and American wrds that are different but have the same meaning.)

(Making cmmands and requests using indirect speech)
1. In grups f fur, think f at least three cmmands yur teachers and parents usually give.
Yu may fllw these steps.

Ask anther persn in yur grup t tell smebdy what yu said.
The third persn will change the request r cmmand frm direct int indirect speech.
Change rle s that each persn gets the chance t give cmmands and turn them int indirect speech.
2. Get the students thinking abut the difference between the request and cmmand.
Then read the replies and decide whether they are in answer t a request r a cmmand. Write the sentence dwn.
