In the atmsphere, carbn dixide allws the sun's rays t enter but prevents the heat frm escaping. Accrding t a weather expert's predictin, the atmsphere will be warmer in the year 2050 than it is tday, if man cntinues t burn fuel at the present rate. If this warming up tk place, the ice caps in the ples wuld begin t melt, thus raising sea level several meters and severely flding castal cities. Als, the increase in atmspheric temperature wuld lead t great changes in the climate f the nrthern hemisphere.
In the past, cncern abut a manmade warming f the earth has cncentrated n the Arctic because the Antarctic is much clder and has a much thicker ice sheet. But the weather experts are nw paying mre attentin t West Antarctic, which may be affected by nly a few degrees f warming, in ther wrds, by a warming n the scale that will pssibly take place in the next fifty years frm the burning f fuels. Satellite pictures shw that large areas f Antarctic ice are already disappearing. The evidence suggests that a warming has taken place. This fits the thery that carbn dixide warms the earth.
Hwever, mst f the fuel is burnt in the nrthern part f the earth, where temperatures seem t be falling. Scientists cnclude, therefre, that up t nw natural influences n the weather have exceeded thse caused by man. The questin is: Which natural cause has the mst effect n the weather?

This seems t have a greater effect n the distributin f the earth's atmspheric pressure, and cnsequently n wind circulatin (循环). The sun is als variable (可变的) ver a lng term. Its heat utput (输出) ges up and dwn in cycles. The latest trend being dwnward is n the way. But that is nly an imaginatin.

B.pssibly because the ice caps in the ples are melting
C.due t the effect f the earth's climate
D.pssibly due t the activity f the sun

Sme dinsaurs grew slwly and steadily. Others experienced a grwth spurt as they neared adulthd. A “grwth spurt” is when smething r smene grws very quickly. A. By knwing the therpds’ height.
B. By examining the cnditins f the teeth.
C. By cmparing the therpds’ bdies.
D. By cunting the grwth rings f the bnes.
13. Which part f the bnes d yu think the scientists examined?
A. Fssilized legs. B. Fssilized teeth.
C. Fssilized skulls. D. Fssilized jaws.
14. Why did Tm Cullen lead the research?
A. T analyze why therpds grew very quickly.
B. T knw the age f different therpds.
C. T knw why therpds grew s big.
D. T prve the idea that therpds shared the same features.
15. What des this passage mainly want t explre?
A. The reasn why therpds dinsaurs had the same bdy design.
B. The Argentinian dinsaur was the lngest-lived dinsaur.
C. Therpd dinsaurs had different rates f grwth.
D. The way that sme dinsaurs grew s big.
