Lesson 40　When Is Your Birthday?

1.能够掌握课标要求的“四会”词汇：August，September，November，seventh，July，eighth，ninth，tenth，October。

2.让学生了解更多表示生日和日期的词语。

3.让学生了解一些带有代词it的句型。

1.掌握一些与生日和日期有关的词汇：birthday，present，December，August。

2.激发学生兴趣，让学生学会介绍自己或家人

的生日。

掌握以下重点句子：

①I’m making a birthday present for my grandfather.

②When is his birthday?

③My grandfather forgets his birthday every year.

④Maybe I need to make a calendar for you，too.

Step 1：Lead－in

Lead－in by discussing the following questions：

1.When is your birthday？

2.How do you get ready for your birthday party？

Discuss in groups for three minutes.Then let some students present their answers in front of the class.



Step 2：Listening

Listen to the tape and know about the main points of the dialogue. At the same time，fill in the blanks with the words you hear.

1.Li Ming is making a________ ________for his grandfather.

2.Jack’s birthday is on________.

Finish the task in class orally.

Step 3：Reading

Read the lesson and answer the following questions：

1.When is Li Ming’s grandfather’s birthday？

2.How many days does a leap year have？

Finish the task in class orally.

Step 4：Practice

Ask the students to write a note to introduce their birthdays.

Work in groups to finish the task. After a while，let some groups present their notes in front of the class.

When the students are preparing，the teacher can walk around the classroom to solve the problems that probably happen.

Step 5：Come to “Let’s Do It！”

Listen to the tape again and finish Exercise 1.

Read the lesson again and ask the students to finish Exercise 2 together.

Ask the students to finish Exercise 4 in pairs.

Finish Exercise 3 in “Let’s Do It！”.
